SoundPEATS POP Clip Review

The SoundPEATS POP Clip has just launched and we had some time to test them beforehand and again with this new clip on ear design I mentioned before we will see more off and this time from SoundPEATS.

The build quality is excellent and robust here as most of these type of earbuds offer a stable hold in the ears some have said on reviewing other similar clip-on earbuds they would fall out but this is not the cas once secured they stay put.

These have an extra benefit over others for some having a button control each side rather than a touch sensitive area giving you more accurate control and less false inputs which is great although thumb memory is key with any new earbuds but buttons do help for some who are not so much into gesture/touch based ones.

Sound is excellent here with the 10.8mm dual  magnet drivers and with the app you get plenty more this time around in the new Peats Audio app which now comes with tracking and gives an audible alert, you can select the controls here to suit your needs and change up the audio with the EQ settings on board we go through this in the video review below and show you what is on offer.

There is an audio test which you should complete to get the best experience it does not take long to do and I always advise this with new earbuds. You also get the choice to have your own custom EQ too which is great but do check out all the other offerings in the app.

There was no lag latency noted or tinny sound when turned up the max which is how it should be and given these do not sit right in your ear canal they still deliver an almost in-ear earbud experience but you also get to hear your surroundings which is good for those who cycle or walk, calls also quite clear to an no issues either end on my testing.

Having tested other products from the brand before the Movie mode is my favourite EQ here so do check this out, another additional feature here with the these left and right sides have automatic adaption so it means it does not matter which side is which when removing or replacing them from the case.

Over 200 free Wi-Fi access points in public spaces across 61 towns nationwide now available from Magnet+ thanks to EU backed initiative WiFi4EU

A total of 201 free Wi-Fi connectivity access points in public spaces across Ireland have now been installed by Magnet+, Ireland’s largest independent connectivity network, as part of the WiFi4EU initiative.

The demand for the free Wi-fi connectivity service, which was first introduced in Galway city in October 2020, has grown exponentially over the last two years, with a 30% increase in users nationwide in the last year alone and a total of 8,369 users recorded for the month October 2022.

The WiFi4U scheme offers free high-speed access to Wi-Fi connectivity for citizens in public spaces such as parks, squares, public buildings, libraries, museums and in towns and cities throughout Europe. It is an initiative of The European Commission funded by both The European Commission and Department of Rural and Community Development.

The areas with the Wi-Fi access points include:

  • Dublin
    • 47 Access Points installed across 17 different towns including Fingal, Blanchardstown, Mulhuddart, Lucan, Castleknock, Portmarnock, Howth, Malahide, Portrane, Donabate, Swords, Balbriggan, Naul, Garristown, Rush, Lusk and Skerries.

There were 6,146 users in Fingal alone across September and October this year which is an increase of 15% compared to this time last year.

  • Tipperary County
    • 52 Access Points installed across 6 different towns including Clonmel, Carrick on Suir, Nenagh, Tipperary Town, Roscrea & Thurles.

    • There were 3,030 users in Tipperary County across September and October this year which is an increase of 66% compared to this time in 2021.

  • Galway City
    • 61 Access Points installed across 13 different towns including Ballinfoile, Galway City Centre, Roscam, Ballyloughnane, Liosban, Doughiska, Mervue, Knocknacarra, Blackrock, Salthill, Westside, Tuam Road & Renmore

    • There were 5,358 users in Galway City across September and October this year which is an increase of 88% compared to this time last year.

  • Galway County
    • 41 Access Points installed across 25 Different towns including Kinvara, Portumna, Killimor, Loughrea, Gort, Mountbellew, Ballygar, Ahascragh, Aughrim, Ballinasloe, Moylough, Headford, Dunmore, Tuam, Athenry, Oranmore, Barna, Oughterard, Carraroe, Spiddal, Moycullen, Aran Islands & Clifden.

    • There were 3,991 users in Galway County across September and October this year which is an increase of 239% compared to the same time last year.

Under the WiFi4EU scheme, successful local authorities are issued with vouchers worth €15,000 to install Wi-Fi hotspots, which must be free of charge to the user, free from advertising and with no commercial re-use of data.

To date 28 of Ireland’s 31 local authorities have now secured WiFi4EU vouchers, with 23 securing the maximum of four available and 12 still to go to tender.

The Department of Rural and Community Development is providing matched funding of €15,000 for every voucher awarded to Ireland by the EU, effectively doubling the value of the investment.

Commenting on this landmark milestone, Philip Clapperton, Sales Director at Magnet +, says: “Magnet+ is delighted to have brought connectivity services to so many towns across Ireland. The multi-location WiFi4EU service will provide previously unavailable Wi-Fi service in these community locations, which will enhance the user experience when visiting these locations. Areas previously affected by a lack of Wi-Fi services can now access reliable, fast and secure internet services at no cost providing incredible ease of access for these areas and boosting all the local economies in these areas. We’re excited to grow these networks further to even more areas in the country.”

Phishing emails revealed as biggest cybersecurity threat to SMEs but 50% don’t have security solution in place

A brand-new Cyber Security Pack has been created by Magnet+, Ireland’s largest connectivity network, to help Irish businesses protect themselves against the significant rise in phishing emails as well as other types of vulnerabilities, threats or breaches.

This new product was especially devised by Magnet+ and its security partner Exponential-e, following research conducted by the company which revealed that almost one in four businesses say that email attachments pose the greatest cyber security threat to their business. However, the survey also revealed that 50% of businesses have not implemented an email security solution to prevent this.

So, what does “Phishing” actually mean?

“Phishing” occurs when a cybercriminal impersonates a reputable business or person in an email or other form of communication such as SMS or direct message on social media. Phishing emails often contain malicious links or harmful attachments that can be used to steal confidential user data such as login credentials or credit card numbers. Opening an unknown and potentially unsafe email attachment can have a detrimental impact on any business – not only in terms of financial loss and loss of business, but also reputational damage.

How will the Magnet+ Cyber Security Pack help businesses?

One element of the new product involves engaging a simulated Email Phishing Campaign that will test employee’s security awareness and see if they open a phishing attachment or not. Results will be reported, highlighting any areas for improvement while follow-up training videos will also be offered to staff.

Other elements of the new Cyber Security Pack from Magnet+, which brings a unique mix of services together for the first time making it a beneficial tool if you are planning to invest in cyber security insurance include:

  • A monthly vulnerability scan which will identify weaknesses within your existing security systems by mimicking the actions of the most effective cybercriminals and offer advice on where your business should implement any extra required precautions.
  • A one-off three-day penetration test where intensive attempts are made to break through your cyber defences over a three-day period employing the same tactics used by attackers. This is crucial to identifying weak spots and gaps in your cyber security system already in place.
  • A one-off Cyber Essentials self-assessment which will act as a baseline certification for IT architects and consultants. Magnet+ help secure and protect what you value most 24/7, allowing you to focus on your core business services.

The new product currently being rolled out by Magnet+ is in partnership with international IT, communications and technology innovator Exponential-e.  Magnet+ customers can now be secure in the knowledge that as well as benefiting from world class technical expertise, their business will have the highest level of cyber security controls possible.

Magnet promises to put the human back into customer service. #Magnet #Broadband

A new gigabyte broadband service, aimed at remote workers, has been launched with a “talk to a human” technical support guarantee.

Magnet Networks is promising that all technical support calls on its Business Broadband service will be answered by a technician almost instantly – meaning customers can escape the dreaded holding pattern or automated answering service.

It comes as new research shows the communications sector has seen its ‘You Get Me’ scores drop by almost 12% during Covid-19, leaving it at the bottom of the league table for customer experience scores for the second year. This compares to a 4% increase for supermarkets.

The recent customer experience report by the CX Company highlighted how being able to understand and empathise with a customer’s circumstances is even more important in these current times.

Ireland’s communications sector saw the largest decrease in customer experience and empathy across all of 10 sectors surveyed.

Separate research by customer and employee listening platform Usabilla, showed 73% of people of skip the automated answering service, often pressing “0” to reach a human first.

Louise McKeown, Marketing and Product Director, Magnet Networks

“No-one wants to be placed on hold for what seems like an indefinite duration at the very time when they may be frustrated and need advice on an issue,” said Magnet Networks Marketing Director Louise McKeown.

“We are offering a guarantee that if customers need technical assistance, their call will be answered almost instantly during business hours, they will speak directly to a technician and that an expert will be working on their query within 30 minutes of the call.

“Our seven-day Ireland-based technical support services answer calls in an average of 11 rings.

“With the current migration towards remote working, we are now bringing our business broadband to the home for employees, backed by a responsive business-class support network.”

“We want to put the human back into technology and ensure a hassle-free experience for our customers.”

The Magnet Networks Business Broadband service is available to both consumers and businesses, and delivers business-class connectivity and customer service almost nationwide.

It offers a range of six speed options from 24 mbps up to 1 gbps, all of which come with a fixed IP address at no additional cost, allowing ease of access to office servers.

The cost for the 1 gbps service starts at €75 ex vat per month on the Business Broadband + package which gives customers the ability to add this to a current phone line without the need for additional line rental charges.

The first two months are free. For details and pricing see magnetnetworks.com.
