Google Pixel 10 Pro Review

The Google Pixel 10 Pro is one of their latest slew of devices on the market today and probably the best choice out of the lot though I yet to try the fold which some see as overpriced.

Regardless of that I have a Pixel phone as one of my daily drivers all year round coupled with the watch the earbuds and many other items at home and works a great ecosystem. AI though I think is where the Pixel 10 Pro shines this year with lots of extras on board alongside good cameras a UI experience and overall a smooth phone to use even for heavy multitaskers like me.

AI is a word we cant get away from these days however this is good and bad depending on how you use it and for photos it is excellent and with fixing images and giving you the best result and as they say the best camera you have is the one in your pocket.

Magic Cue. The right info, right when you need it.

Magic Cue brings a new level of personalised intelligence and helpfulness to Pixel. It can help connect the dots across your digital life by anticipating your needs and proactively suggesting relevant information and helpful actions, based on the context on your phone.2 Calling your airline?

Magic Cue finds your flight details as soon as you dial. Friend asking for your Airbnb address? It automatically retrieves the info for quick sharing. Magic Cue is powered by our custom-built Google Tensor G5 chip, featuring cutting-edge, on-device AI that gives features the ability to process and understand relevant information and deliver helpful, proactive assistance.

Transform photos in the blink of AI.

The Pixel 10 series makes it effortless to capture an amazing photo every time, offering AI-powered features and magical editing tools in the Pixel Camera. The all-new Camera Coach, powered by Gemini models built right into the camera, can read the scene, offer you suggestions and help you find the best angle and lighting. It can even suggest the best modes to use, helping unleash the creative photographer in you. Asides photos in general AI in embedded in to the Pixel 10 pro and more or less system wide and Gemini is one feature I use quite often now and can be helpful in many ways which I use on my chromebook and Pixel devices

Design and Display

The Pixel 10 Pro has a similar design language to its predecessor, featuring the distinctive visor camera bar on the back. It’s polisheded finish with  spacecraft-grade aluminum frame and a silky matte glass back, all protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2. Buttons are tactile it does not rock on the table when flat like most phones today with big humps.

The Pixel 10 Pro has a  6.3-inch LTPO OLED screen with a dynamic refresh rate that can go from 1Hz all the way up to 120Hz. The peak brightness is said to reach an impressive 3300 nits, which would make it one of the brightest displays on the market, ensuring excellent visibility even in direct sunlight.

Performance and AI

The biggest change under the hood is the new Tensor G5 chip which is major upgrade over the Tensor G4, promising faster CPU and GPU performance, which runs a bit more smoother, more responsive user experience for everything from everyday tasks to mobile gaming and as a poweruser of phones I seen no issues to date with what I do.

The Tensor G5 powers the  next-level AI features on which this phone is more or less selling point is enabling new features like “Magic Cue,” which proactively offers relevant information based on your apps and usage and also allows you to edit photos by telling the phone to do so.

Camera System

The Pixel 10 Pro camera array consists a 50MP wide lens, a 48MP ultrawide with Macro Focus, and a 48MP telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom. The combination of hardware and the Tensor G5’s new Image Signal Processor (ISP) the suite of tools also on the Pixel 10 Prio is plenty for editing but check out the image and video gallery below for more and you deciide I found it much better this time round especially with night photography and video.

Final Thoughts

Overall the new Pixel 10 is a powerful tool for those wanting to engage in AI more and for me not a huge fan of the AI buzzword but it has me trying new things using the AI the cameras are great and overall I am impressed with what I have here and it will be staying put as my daily driver until the next model drops which I look forward too.

9 ways AI makes Pixel 10 Google’s most helpful phone yet

Google’s newest Pixel hardware includes AI features to help you make the most of your time. Check out nine new ways AI makes your Pixel even more helpful. See the first look here.

1. Try Google’s most powerful AI chip yet

All Pixel 10 phones come with Google Tensor G5, Google’s most powerful chip yet that delivers performance boosts while unlocking brand new experiences. Co-designed with the Google DeepMind team, Tensor G5 is the first chip to run the newest Gemini Nano model. And together, the combined power of Tensor G5 and Gemini Nano will make your everyday life easier by running many complex, generative AI experiences on-device.

If you decide on a Pixel 10 ProPixel 10 Pro XL or Pixel 10 Pro Fold you’ll also get a free year of Google AI Pro, giving you access to image and video generation tools like Imagen 4 and Veo 3 that make your creative ideas come to life.

2. Get a helping hand from Magic Cue

The more we do on our phones, the more we find ourselves digging through different apps to find what we need. Magic Cue connects the dots across your apps, like Gmail, Calendar, Screenshots, Messages and more, to proactively surface relevant info and suggest helpful actions when you need them.

Say your friend texts to ask when your flight’s landing. Magic Cue will reference your itinerary, pull the relevant details and suggest you share them right in your Messages app with just a tap. And if you need to make changes to that itinerary, Magic Cue automatically displays your flight information when you call your airline.

That in-context support shows up in many more situations, like when a friend asks you to send a photo or dinner reservation details. Magic Cue will suggest the right action or information as you’re replying, right in Google Messages. And if it doesn’t find a relevant suggestion, it won’t disturb you. Magic Cue runs securely and privately through a combination of the Tensor G5 chip and Gemini Nano. You’re in control — you can turn Magic Cue on or off at any time, and control what data it has access to.

Another place you’ll find Magic Cue is in Daily Hub, which you’ll find in your discover feed. Daily Hub is a personalized digest showing what’s coming up on your calendar, relevant topics for you to deep dive on, recommended playlists and more.

3. Build connection across languages with just a call

Voice Translate allows you to break down language barriers during phone calls. Through Tensor G5, our on-device AI translates your call in real time in what sounds like each speaker’s voice, so you can connect to the other person more naturally in their language.

Voice Translate works when translating to or from English with Spanish, German, Japanese, French, Hindi, Italian, Portuguese, Swedish, Russian and Indonesian.

4. Let Pixel take the message

Call Screen continues to be a fan favorite on Pixel, but what about those times where you miss or decline a call? In the Phone app, Take a Message will now give you real-time transcripts for missed or declined calls. It will also use advanced AI to identify next steps for you based on the message — an update that will also come to Call Notes.

5. Get more help from Gemini Live

Since launching with Pixel 9, Google have continued to make updates to Gemini Live. That includes connecting to your favourite Google apps and letting Gemini Live see whatever you see, whether through your phone’s camera or on your screen.

With Pixel 10, Gemini Live can offer even more visual help. Now, when you share your camera, Gemini can not only see what you see, but also provide guidance by highlighting the solution directly on your screen.

And with Google AI Pro, you’ll have access to additional AI-powered features, like video generation in the Gemini app.

6. Level up your notetaking

Google’s AI-powered research assistant, NotebookLM, is now integrated with Pixel Screenshots and Recorder. If Screenshots detects a picture you’ve taken that could be a good fit for your notebook, it will automatically suggest you add it for easy tracking. Similarly, you can now add transcripts from Recorder to your notebook.

7. Take time for yourself in Pixel Journal

With Pixel Journal, you have a private space to focus on your wellbeing, progress toward your goals and build a lifelong practice of reflection. It uses on-device AI to give you writing prompts that help you process your thoughts, and it offers insights into your patterns and progress over time. You can even lock your journal so everything you write remains totally secure and personal.

8. Find writing support right in Gboard

Check your texts and fix writing errors with Writing Tools in Gboard. It’s a new experience that will not only spellcheck what you’re writing, but also offer rewrites in a specified style, like if you need your text to sound more professional or just want to find the perfect emojis to convey what you’re feeling. You can even use voice commands to help rephrase or rewrite the message.

9. Make music with Recorder

If you’re a fan of singing songs or humming ideas into Recorder, you can now transform those creative sparks into music. Just record your vocals and select your desired musical style to create a unique track that suits your vibe.
