Google Pixel 10a Review if its not broke dont fix it

The all new Google Pixel 10a has been my daily driver now and on a first look you will be asking questions many have asked and that is it looks the same, true this is relatable to many other devices on the market today and Goolge seems to be playing it safe with the idea if it is not broke dont fix it approach which is fine and I like it.

People will ask why bother, well people have changed their update regimes taking adavantage of longer support like the 7 years Pixel devices now get and each year people will be on different cycles so their needs to be a new shiny device for those people however people will still ask why bother when software is now king on many smarthphones.

What has changed on the Google Pixel 9a to the new 10a, on  the looks department nothing really, the small lip around the camera area is now gone giving a completely flat surface on the rear but no PixelSnap.

There is now wireless charing this time at 15W better battery optimization, brighter screen new Gorrilla Glass 7i Auto Best Take and Macro Focus on the cameras better contrast and Satellite SOS and also 60-120hz refresh rate set at 60 out of the box.

The Google Pixel 10a is of course packed with AI goodness as before again not much changing from last year from Auto Focus Add Me, Macro Focus Audio Magic Eraser and Reimagine and Auto Frame and of course Night Sight.

The camera on the Google PIxel 10a again is a great point and shoot camera which you can see in the video review down below for much more featuring  a 48MP main camera and a 13MP ultrawide and rear camera and features Auto Best Take that helps make sure everyone in a group photo looks their best by automatically with a single shutter press Pixel analyzes multiple frames to find the perfect shot and Camera Coach uses Gemini models to give you step-by-step guidance on lighting and composition, helping you take better pictures and become a better photographer.

Under the hood we have still last years Chip which did not bode well with some on the announcement day which is the Google Tensor G4 and coming with 8GB of RAM and two storag options being 128GB and 256GB storage options.

From being a daily driver for me the last week or so it has been again fine like before for my needs which is more heavy than any general users and again it perfomed just fine even keeping up with the Pixel 10 pro which I moved down from.

Nikon introduces the NIKKOR Z 70-200mm f/2.8 VR S II lens

Nikon introduces a new second-generation S-Line zoom, the NIKKOR Z 70-200mm f/2.8 VR S II lens. With Nikon’s best AF system to date, redesigned S-Line optics, stronger image stabilisation, improved ergonomics, and a lighter build, this upgraded f/2.8 professional medium-telephoto zoom lens gives photographers and video shooters the edge in more situations than ever before.

Weighing in at a class-leading1 998 g,2 the NIKKOR Z 70-200mm f/2.8 VR S II offers a significant upgrade in terms of balance, agility, and stability. A full 362 g lighter than its predecessor, and 12 mm shorter, this new lens is more comfortable to handle when shooting handheld and video shooters using a Z camera on a gimbal will benefit from the balanced internal zoom, which keeps the centre of gravity consistent when changing focal lengths. The NIKKOR Z 70-200mm f/2.8 VR S II also boasts up to 6 stops3 of in-lens Vibration Reduction, which combines with the fast f/2.8 aperture to deliver every advantage in challenging conditions, and Synchro VR maximises stability at the centre and edges of the frame with compatible Z cameras.

Responsiveness gets a massive boost thanks to the speed and silence of the new AF system, which is equipped with Nikon’s Silky Swift voice coil motors: AF speed is up to 3.5x faster5 compared to the first generation of this lens, and 50% quieter, plus scan time at the telephoto end is reduced and focus tracking is more accurate when zooming. Precision has also improved significantly thanks to the all-new optical formula: with fewer elements used to greater effect, the streamlined optical design takes sharpness, bokeh, and anti-glare performance to new heights while also contributing to the overall reduction in lens weight.

Pro-grade weather sealing protects the lens, and ergonomic improvements include a removable tripod collar, an ARCA-SWISS tripod foot, and a de-clickable control ring.

Zurab Kiknadze, Product Manager, Nikon Europe says: “We are excited to introduce another second-generation f/2.8 pro-grade zoom. With ergonomic improvements, a new optical design, a leap in AF performance, and a significant reduction in size and weight, you get a lens with class-leading features and capabilities to work with. It’s the kind of upgrade that can take your whole Z system to the next level of performance.”

Summary of key features: NIKKOR Z 70-200mm f/2.8 VR S II

Lightest in class1: weighing in at just 998 g,2 this next-gen S-Line lens is a full 362 g lighter than its predecessor, and 12 mm shorter.

More speed, more stability: a fast f/2.8 aperture and 6 stops3 of in-lens Vibration Reduction, plus Synchro VR for maximum stabilisation at the centre and edges of the frame with compatible Z cameras.

Next-level AF: the sheer velocity of Nikon’s Silky Swift voice coil motors and the precision of the multi-focusing system gives responsiveness a massive boost while significantly reducing noise and vibrations.

Next-gen S-Line optics: for maximum image quality and a lighter lens. Includes dual-sided aspherical lens elements, Super ED and SR glass, and Meso Amorphous and ARNEO coatings.

Smoother bokeh: rounded 11-blade aperture and advanced optics produce softer bokeh that’s better defined and smoothly graded for a more natural sense of depth.

Shorter minimum focus distance: of 0.38 m at 70mm, and 0.8 m at 200mm. Maximum magnification is 0.25x at 70mm, and 0.3x at 200mm.

Agile for video: the internal zoom lets you change focal lengths without needing to rebalance your rig, and balance is maintained if using heavy external accessories. Focus breathing is minimised for more natural-looking transitions.

De-clickable control ring: click on for tactile feedback. Click off for smooth, silent, stepless operation.

Pro-grade sealing: to keep dust, dirt, and moisture at bay.

Removable tripod collar: included, along with a protective collar. A bayonet design allows secure attachment to the lens.

HB-119 lens hood with filter window: there’s no need to remove this hood if working with rotating filters. Handy if using variable ND filters for video.

Eight Irish game studios to launch prototypes through IndieDev cross-border fund

Irish game developers’ ability to punch above their weight in the competitive international games industry, and turn ambitious concepts into playable prototypes, has been boosted by IndieDev 2025.

IndieDev 2025, a cross-border fund programme supporting indie video game developers in Dublin, Galway, Antrim, Armagh, Tyrone, Laois, Clare, Tipperary, Kilkenny, and Down, each received £15,000/€15,000 and 12 weeks of intensive mentorship to bring their visions to life.

Sharp Glass Games, Universe or Nothing, Reliable Plumbing Services, Space Lion Studios, Table Topple, Rúcach, Silly Goose Games, and Round Robin Interactive were the 2025 recipients of this pioneering programme managed by Galway-based Ardán and Dublin-based Imirt on behalf of Northern Ireland Screen and Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland.

The emerging developers were paired with industry mentors Dave McCabe (Spooky Doorway), Sam Redfern (Psychic Software), and Paul Froggatt (Outlier Games), who all shipped games to international markets last year and who brought their hard-won expertise to the programme.

From this, a variety of game prototypes have emerged, showing the diversity and creativity of the games development sector in Ireland: a hot air balloon simulator, a stealth-puzzle game, a meditative, cozy game, a roguelike strategy game, a 3D action-adventure platformer, a minimalist pinball-inspired perseverance platformer, a soft post-apocalyptic romance adventure visual novel, and a first-person, stealth exploration game.

“IndieDev is the best thing that could have happened to us as a newcomer game studio,” said Sharp Glass Games Irina Kuksova. “Being on the programme was key for connecting with professionals who helped us to test assumptions, try new approaches and get a better understanding of the industry. The funds gave us time to work on the project, while the commitment to deliver sped up our work. We are publishing the Deathwish Bloom prototype next month and are looking forward to growing further.”

“IndieDev gave us the space and structure to turn Persevere from an ambitious concept into a working, playable game,” said Universe Or Nothing’s Mark Aherne. “The mentorship, workshops, and focused development time helped us validate our ideas, sharpen our design, and build a prototype we’re extremely excited about. It’s been a huge step forward for the project and for us as a studio.”

“IndieDev is a great programme,” said Colm Larkin, Imirt CEO and founder of game studio Gambrinous. “If something like this had been around when I started my studio 12 years ago, I would have jumped at the chance to take part. There’s a real sense of things coming together in Ireland for games right now.”

The momentum built by IndieDev’s success continues with Sparks: Game Changers, a pilot career development course for people of underrepresented genders in the games industry. Run by Ardán in collaboration with Code Coven and supported by Screen Ireland, the programme tackles the soft skills that directly affect career progression—confident communication, self-advocacy, and job-hunting readiness in an industry still shaped by bias and power imbalances.

Ardán and the Irish Games Industry:

Other games industry initiatives in Ireland run by Ardán included the annual FÍS Games Summit, a pivotal gathering for the games industry in the West of Ireland, attracting international speakers; the Galway branch of the Irish Games Talent Incubator; Run For The Border which mentors and nurtures game dev talent in the border counties; and the Galway Film Fair Games Event at Galway Film Fleadh.

Ardán was also one of seven Galway organisations awarded funding under The Communicating Europe Initiative, managing the GameDev Connect Europe development project strand. This brought together game developers in Ireland, Iceland, Greenland, Finland, and Sweden, highlighting how the games industry can work remotely and across borders, while also focusing on collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and community engagement.

E-Clean System Installed at the Guinness Storehouse

Euro Refrigeration Limited, part of the ERG Group, has unveiled its pioneering E-Clean chemical-free glass washing system with a high-profile installation at the Guinness Storehouse and the Guinness Open Gate Brewery in St. James’s Gate, Dublin.

The project began with a full trial of the system at the Guinness Open Gate Brewery, where it was extensively tested in a live brewing and hospitality environment. Following the success of this trial, the system was rolled out across all glasswashers in the Guinness Storehouse, Ireland’s number one visitor attraction with more than 1.7 million visitors annually. This ensures every guest experiences a perfect pint served in perfectly prepared glassware.

The E-Clean system, distributed exclusively in Ireland by Euro Refrigeration, allows glassware to be cleaned without detergent or rinse aid. The result is a brilliant shine, enhanced presentation, and superior lacing – all essential to delivering the “perfect pint.”

Developed with the hospitality industry front of mind, the system delivers both sustainability and performance, helping pubs, hotels, restaurants, and clubs to improve customer experience while reducing environmental impact. It also extends the life of glassware, prevents common issues such as streaks, lines, or chemical residues, and keeps machines scale-free.

E-Clean is not simply an innovation – it is a redefinition of how we approach glass care in hospitality. We are proud to deliver a smarter, greener, and more efficient solution that aligns with the industry’s growing focus on sustainability,” said Peter Wynne, Director, Euro Refrigeration Limited. “We are delighted that, following its successful trial at the Open Gate Brewery, the Guinness Storehouse has adopted E-Clean as its glass-cleaning system of choice.”

At the heart of the system is advanced filtration and reverse osmosis technology, produced in partnership with Aquaphor, a global leader in water treatment innovation. Through ERG’s exclusive distribution in Ireland, this world-leading technology is now available to hospitality venues as a cost-effective and environmentally friendly alternative to traditional glass washing methods.

The official launch took place at the Guinness Open Gate Brewery in Dublin and was attended by leading members of the licensed trade, representatives from Diageo, and the ERG Group.

There are three sizes to choose from, 43”, 55” and 65”, as well as three updated colours, Volcanic Grey, Arctic Silver and Atlantic Blue.

A 4K advanced HDR TV

The brighter 4K Quantum Dot display delivers crystal clear picture, while new advanced HDR and precision contrast enhancement makes darks darker and brights brighter. It has a wider viewing angle and an even more immersive picture with a brighter, more accurate display.

Re-engineered sound. Built in

Sky Glass Gen 2 has been re-engineered to project even richer 360° cinematic sound. The enhanced Dolby Atmos® sound system now has seven speakers, including a soundbar and dual subwoofer built-in, and has been designed to deliver a richer bass with improved vocal clarity.

From helicopters flying overhead to a stadium filled with applause, viewers can experience it all from the comfort of their sofa.

With no need to buy a separate soundbar, customers can make great savings vs. buying a comparable UHD TV and soundbar.

Commenting on the launch, Fraser Stirling, Global Chief Product Officer for Comcast and Sky said: “We built Sky Glass as a brilliantly simple way for people to watch TV, making it easier to find the things they love from Sky and streaming apps. The new Sky Glass Gen 2 gives people our best TV experience yet, with a brighter picture and even more cinematic sound, and with flexible ways to buy it, it’s more affordable than ever to get Sky TV.”

Design that feels right at home

Three new colours – Volcanic Grey, Arctic Silver, and Atlantic Blue – have been chosen to complement modern interiors. The remotes are colour matched to the TV and now the speaker fascia is too.

Whether choosing the 43”, 55” or 65”, everything needed to set up Sky Glass is in one box. Simply take it out, place it on the stand, connect to Wi-Fi and enjoy TV from Sky, Netflix and streaming apps in minutes.  The new stand is designed to be easier than ever, with two prongs that the TV slides onto, no screws or tools needed.  Alternatively, people can choose to add the new bespoke wall mount, that tilts, swivels and sits completely flush against the wall.It is also compatible with universal TV mounts for anyone who already has their own.

Powered by Sky OS, the new name for Entertainment OS

Sky Glass Gen 2 runs on the Sky OS platform, the intelligent software that powers Sky’s much-loved TV viewing. And it keeps getting smarter, with more than 500 new features and updates since it launched.

It does the hard work by bringing entertainment from Sky and other apps into one place, getting viewers to what they want to watch, faster. It’s smart and learns what viewers like to watch, curating collections of the best entertainment based on viewing habits. With personal Playlists, viewers can save all their favourites from Sky and other apps in one place, ready to watch later. Playlist will save previous and future episodes, even if the series moves across different channels and steaming apps.

Powered by Comcast’s global voice platform, Sky Glass has a far field microphone, so it listens and responds when viewers say “Hello Sky…”. Use it to find shows from Sky and other apps, search for actors or genres, as well as to turn Sky Glass on and off, change volume, fast forward, pause and add to Playlist.

Get the Sky experience from only €34

People can pay for the new Sky Glass like a mobile phone, either all in one go, or spread the cost with interest-free monthly payments from as little at €16 per month for the 43”, €22 per month for the 55”, or €28 month for the 65”.

They can also choose the length of TV subscription they want, with a 12-month TV subscription offering the best price, or a 31-day rolling contract for more flexibility.

It’s never been more affordable to become a Sky customer, thanks to Sky’s new Essential TV pack, giving new customers a taste of Sky for just €18 a month. It brings together over 100 channels including Sky Atlantic, featuring hits The Day of the Jackal and House of the Dragon, along with favourites from Netflix like Squid Game and Stranger Things, plus a wealth of reality shows, documentaries and adventure on Discovery+.

What is the Difference Between Violet Glass and Regular Glass?

The History and Origin of Violet Glass: Why It Has Been Used for Centuries

Violet glass bottles, also known as biophotonic glass, has a rich history that dates back to the ancient Egyptians. These early civilizations used violet glass to store their precious oils, medicines, and cosmetics. The unique properties of violet glass ensured that the contents remained fresh longer and retained their potency. Unlike regular glass, which is often clear or light green, violet glass has a deep purple color that is not only aesthetically pleasing but also functional.

The Science Behind Biophotonic Glass: How Violet Glass Works

The functionality of violet glass is based on scientific principles that distinguish it from regular glass. Violet glass blocks the entire spectrum of visible light except the violet part, while also allowing certain parts of the UV and infrared spectrum to pass through. This unique filtering mechanism protects the contents from harmful light rays that can degrade quality and shelf life. Regular glass does not offer this protection, causing products to spoil faster or lose their effectiveness.

Sustainability and Environmental Friendliness of Violet Glass

Another important difference between violet glass and regular glass is sustainability. Violet glass is reusable and recyclable, contributing to a more sustainable world. The use of violet glass can reduce the need for disposable packaging, leading to less waste and a lower ecological footprint. Regular glass is also recyclable but does not offer the same benefits in terms of product preservation, which can lead to more waste.

Protection of Essential Oils: Why Violet Glass is the Best Choice

Essential oils are particularly sensitive to light and air, which can affect their quality and effectiveness. Violet glass offers superior protection by blocking harmful light rays and protecting the oils from oxidation. Regular glass does not provide the same level of protection, causing essential oils to spoil faster and lose their therapeutic properties.

Storing DIY Natural Products in Violet Glass

For those who make their own natural products, violet glass offers an excellent storage solution. Whether it’s homemade creams, tinctures, or herbal blends, violet glass helps maintain the freshness and potency of the ingredients. Regular glass cannot offer these benefits, meaning DIY products can lose their effectiveness more quickly.

Violet Glass in the Modern Apothecary: Traditional Medicine Meets Innovation

Modern apothecaries and naturopaths have rediscovered the benefits of violet glass. By combining traditional medicine with innovative storage methods, they can ensure the quality and effectiveness of their products. Regular glass is still used but does not offer the same level of protection and durability as violet glass.

Cooking and Storage: Why Violet Glass is Perfect for Herbs and Spices

Herbs and spices quickly lose their flavor and aroma when exposed to light and air. Violet glass provides a solution by blocking these harmful influences, keeping herbs and spices fresher for longer. Regular glass does not offer the same protection, leading to flavor loss and waste.

Violet Glass and Aromatherapy: Preserving Scent and Potency

Aromatherapy products, such as essential oils and scented candles, greatly benefit from storage in violet glass. The unique properties of violet glass help preserve the scent and potency of these products, resulting in a better user experience. Regular glass cannot offer these benefits, meaning aromatherapy products can lose their effectiveness more quickly.

The Benefits of Violet Glass for Cosmetic Products

Natural cosmetic products are often sensitive to light and air, which can affect their quality. Violet glass offers superior protection, keeping these products fresher and more effective for longer. Regular glass does not provide the same level of protection, leading to shorter shelf life and reduced effectiveness of cosmetic products.

Violet Glass and Holistic Health: A Perfect Match

Holistic health is about maintaining balance and well-being through natural means. Violet glass supports this approach by ensuring the quality and effectiveness of natural products. Regular glass does not offer the same benefits, meaning holistic health products can lose their potency more quickly.

The Aesthetic Benefits of Violet Glass in Your Home

In addition to functional benefits, violet glass also offers aesthetic advantages. The deep purple color of violet glass can be a stylish and functional addition to your interior. Regular glass does not offer the same visual appeal, making violet glass a unique and attractive choice for both storage and decoration.

Violet Glass and Reducing Food Waste

By extending the shelf life of products, violet glass can help reduce food waste. Regular glass does not offer the same level of protection, leading to more waste and a larger ecological footprint.

Violet Glass and the Art of Fermentation

Fermentation is a process sensitive to light and air. Violet glass provides the ideal environment for fermentation by blocking harmful influences and ensuring the quality of the final product. Regular glass does not offer the same benefits, leading to inconsistent results in fermentation.

The Psychological Benefits of the Color Violet in Your Daily Life

The color violet has psychological benefits that contribute to well-being and relaxation. Violet glass can bring these benefits into your daily life by promoting a sense of calm and balance. Regular glass does not offer the same psychological benefits, making violet glass a unique choice for both functional and aesthetic purposes.

Violet Glass and the Future of Natural Products

The future of natural products and packaging looks promising with the growing popularity of violet glass. By offering superior protection and sustainability, violet glass can play an important role in the evolution of natural products. Regular glass will likely continue to exist but does not offer the same benefits, making violet glass an attractive choice for the future.

ZAGG Camera lens protector Screen protector and Bridgetown case review for Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6

If you are now sporting the new Galaxy Line of products such as the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 you might want to get that device protected as nothing comes with it in the box which is annoying considering the cost of the phone outright.

They have three new products on offer which we take a closer look at in the video review below and it is in your interest to get them in my book because if you drop the phone it will be a costly fix and that is the last thing you want.

Their new Bridewtown case is pretty cool to start with protecting most of the exterior bar the fold part when closed however the front and rear of the device is well protected and you get additional grip too which is great due the phone being much larger in the hand when opened.

All ports are accessible as expected and you can still wirelessly charge the device with the case on but seems to work with the stronger wireless chargers only.

The keys work well and no issues noted here when using and no infringement when folding the device open or closed so for me it is a safe bet and worth the purchase.

The lens protector for the rear too is well worth the purchase as I have cracked a lens on an iPhone in my pocket before and since then get these for all devices when available and this just sticks on easily and has a better sticking power than others I have tested in the past.

The screen protector comes with an install kit and takes two minutes to install and right away your are good to go with no issues with the outside screen when working as normal, overall the trio is a small price to pay to protect such and expensive phone and you should look into it. The only bugbear here is when the phone is opened you are still at risk if it lands face first.
