Generate videos in Gemini and Whisk with Veo 2

Starting today, Gemini Advanced users can generate and share videos using our state-of-the-art video model, Veo 2. In Gemini, you can now translate text-based prompts into dynamic videos. Google Labs is also making Veo 2 available through Whisk, a generative AI experiment that allows you to create new images using both text and image prompts, and now animate them into videos.

Create videos in Gemini

Veo 2 represents a leap forward in video generation, designed to produce high-resolution, detailed videos with cinematic realism. By better understanding real-world physics and human motion, it delivers fluid character movement, lifelike scenes and finer visual details across diverse subjects and styles.

To generate videos, select Veo 2 from the model dropdown in Gemini. This feature creates an eight-second video clip at 720p resolution, delivered as an MP4 file in a 16:9 landscape format. There is a monthly limit on how many videos you can create, but we will notify you as you approach them.

Creating videos with Gemini is simple: just describe the scene you want to create — whether it’s a short story, a visual concept, or a specific scene — and Gemini will bring your ideas to life. The more detailed your description, the more control you have over the final video. This opens up a world of fun creative possibilities, letting your imagination go wild to picture unreal combinations, explore varied visual styles from realism to fantasy, or quickly narrate short visual ideas.

One of the best parts of creating is sharing with others! Sharing your video on mobile is easy: simply tap the share button to quickly upload engaging short videos to platforms like TikTok and YouTube Shorts.

Video generation is now rolling out to Gemini Advanced subscribers globally on web and mobile, starting today and continuing over the next few weeks. This feature is available in all languages Gemini supports. With video generation in Gemini, you don’t need complicated software, specialized equipment, or any prior experience to get creative. Try it out today at gemini.google.com

How Whisk Animate brings your images to life

Introduced this December, Whisk helps you create images using both text and image prompts to quickly explore and visualize new ideas. Today, those capabilities are expanding further with Whisk Animate. Launching today for Google One AI Premium subscribers globally, this new feature will allow you to take the images you generate and instantly turn them into vivid eight-second videos with Veo 2. Subscribers can try Whisk Animate today at labs.google/whisk.

How Safety is approached

We’ve taken important steps to make video generation a safe experience. This includes extensive red teaming and evaluation aimed at preventing the generation of content that violates our policies. Additionally, all videos generated with Veo 2 are marked with SynthID, a digital watermark embedded in each frame, which indicates the videos are AI-generated.

Gemini’s outputs are primarily determined by user prompts and like any generative AI tool, there may be instances where it generates content that some individuals find objectionable. We’ll continue to listen to your feedback through the thumbs up/down buttons and make ongoing improvements. For more details, you can read about our approach on our website

Enjoy making videos in the Gemini app and Whisk as Google One AI Premium subscribers!

Bringing Camera and Screen Sharing to Gemini Live in the Gemini app

Today Google has just announced some exciting updates to the Gemini app. As of today, the Gemini Live Camera & Screen Sharing feature, initially announced in March, is fully rolled out to all Gemini Advanced subscribers on compatible Android devices. It has also been expanded to all Gemini Basic users on Pixel 9 and Samsung S25 devices.

Imagine the possibilities: Gemini Live now allows for natural conversations in over 45 languages, enhanced by the ability to share your camera or screen. This means real-time, intuitive help for everyday tasks – from getting styling advice and tech support to brainstorming interior design ideas and so much more.

This enhanced Gemini Live experience, rooted in the Project Astra research prototype showcased at Google I/O last May, represents a significant step towards a universal AI assistant that truly understands and interacts with the world around you.

Google is building an AI assistant that understands your world, and this update is a powerful demonstration of that vision. By bringing the ability to share your camera or phone screen with Gemini and discuss it in real time, users can share even more context, interacting naturally and unlocking a new level of intuitive help that can simplify and enrich their lives.

See more below

5 ways to use Gemini Live with camera and screen sharing

In March, we began rolling out the ability to talk live with Gemini about anything you see, whether it’s through your phone’s screen or through its camera. This is now available to all Gemini Advanced subscribers on Android devices, and today we’re bringing it to more people, starting with all Gemini app users on Pixel 9 and Samsung Galaxy S25 devices.

Gemini Live lets you have natural, free-flowing conversations with Gemini in over 45 different languages. Want to give it a try? Check out these five ways people have told us that using their camera or sharing their screen with Gemini Live has made life easier.

1. Organize your space

Feeling overwhelmed by spring cleaning? Start by aiming your camera at a messy drawer, a cluttered closet or an overflowing shelf. Ask Gemini for suggestions on how to categorize items, maximize space or even identify what you can donate or discard. Get real-time advice and visual guidance as you declutter, letting Gemini be your organization partner.

2. Brainstorm creative projects

If you’re stuck in a creative rut, brainstorm out loud with Gemini. Show your photos to Gemini by sharing your screen: you could share images of something that inspires you, like the textures of a tree or the colors of a bustling market, and ask Gemini to spark ideas for designs, creative writing or even crafts.

3. Troubleshoot and get input

Have a squeaky chair? A glitching record player? With Gemini Live’s camera input, you can show Gemini what you’re seeing in real time and get quick input while you work. Just point your camera at the issue and chat with Gemini to figure out a plan.

4. Get personal shopping advice

Tired of endless tabs and indecisive online shopping? Share your screen in Gemini Live as you browse online retailers, and Gemini can be your personal shopping assistant. Ask for comparisons between products or for style advice on outfits. You can even show Gemini specific items and ask what would compliment them using your camera to show your own wardrobe. Get instant feedback on your choices, ensuring you make informed (and stylish) purchases.

5. Develop your skills and get feedback

Share your screen with Gemini and get valuable feedback on your work, whether it’s your latest blog post, social media campaign or collection of photos. Get advice on everything from profile pictures and captions to overall layout and design. Gemini can analyze your content, identify areas for improvement and provide personalized recommendations to help you make a lasting impression.

New in Maps: Inspiration curated with Gemini, enhanced navigation and more

For nearly 20 years, Google Maps has helped people understand and navigate the world — and today, Google is announcing that more than 2 billion users turn to Maps each month because of their fresh, comprehensive map. By using AI to analyze billions of images, alongside data from local partners and our community, we’re able to make over 100 million updates to the map every single day. So whether you’re traveling the world or across town, you’re seeing the most up-to-date information possible.

From fuel-efficient routes to Immersive View, AI has helped us build new experiences for over a decade. And now, we’re transforming Maps with the power of Gemini models, helping you get answers to complex questions about the world.

Ask Maps for inspiration curated with Gemini
People already turn to Maps to get ideas for places to go and things to do. Now, we’re making it even easier to get inspiration curated with Gemini: all you need to do is ask Maps.
Say a friend is visiting and you need to plan an activity. Just ask Maps for “things to do with friends at night” to get ideas curated with Gemini — like checking out a speakeasy or live music. Find out what people like about a place by reading the helpful review summarized with Gemini — especially convenient when you’re pressed for time. If a place catches your eye and you want to learn more about it, like whether it has outdoor seating or a quiet atmosphere, just ask Maps questions about a place to get relevant answers in a snap.
All of these features are made possible thanks to our Gemini’s powerful creation, reasoning and summarization capabilities — grounded in our trusted data about 250 million places around the world and insights from the Maps community. These features start rolling out in the U.S. on Android and iOS this week. You’ll also see similar experiences in the coming months on Search — including AI-powered review summaries and the option to ask detailed questions about places.
Check out how we’re also helping developers, enterprises, and cities with our mapping technology and Gemini capabilities.

Take the stress out of driving
We’re introducing a major update to make your entire drive easier from start to finish. It’s now simpler to explore along your route before you get on the road — just get directions and tap “add stops.” You’ll see top landmarks, attractions, scenic spots and dining options to help you plan the perfect drive.
Sometimes driving in unfamiliar areas with multiple lanes, forks, and exits can be confusing. To help you anticipate these, our enhanced navigation will show you lanes, crosswalks and road signs clearly on the map. And because no one likes finding out they need to merge at the last minute, we’ll show you exactly which lane you should be in: just follow the blue line in the lane markers while navigating.

We’re also giving you more ways to keep you and your fellow drivers informed. As the winter months approach for many of us, you’ll now be able to see and report weather disruptions along your route — including flooded, unplowed and low-visibility roads.
Lastly, we know your journey isn’t over until you make it to the door of your destination. Now, with updates to arrival guidance, in addition to lighting up your building and entrance, we’ll also show you nearby parking lots and remind you to save your parking so you don’t forget. Once you’re parked, you can get walking directions from your car to the entrance — and even enter Street View or AR walking navigation so you can orient yourself quickly.
The ability to explore along your route, see and report weather disruptions, and our updated arrival guidance start rolling out globally on Android and iOS this week. Enhanced navigation starts rolling out next month on Android and iOS in over 30 metros — with plans to expand to more places over time.
We also have exciting updates coming to Waze, including Conversational Reporting — be sure to check those out, too.

Explore with Immersive View’s biggest update yet
With Immersive View, you can experience what stadiums, parks and routes look like using AI, imagery and computer vision — and even see what the weather and traffic conditions will be like on the day and time you’re planning to visit. Starting this week, Immersive View for places will expand to 150 cities globally, including in places like Brussels, Kyoto and Frankfurt. And we continue to add new categories of places to Immersive View, like college campuses — a great way to take your very own campus tour!
Immersive View for routes is also getting new details. Now, we’ll tell you where to park and highlight if you’ll encounter things like a complex turn along your route so you can be prepared. This update starts rolling out this week on Android and iOS wherever Immersive View for routes is available.
We can’t wait for you to try these updates out. From immersive experiences to inspiration curated with Gemini as well as a new, enhanced driving experience, Google Maps continues to transform how we navigate and explore the world.

New in Gemini: Custom Gems and improved image generation with Imagen 3

Gemini, Google’s state-of-the-art AI powered assistant, has new features rolling out, starting today, that were previewed at Google I/O. Gems, a new feature that lets you customize Gemini to create your own personal AI experts on any topic you want, are now available for Gemini Advanced, Business and Enterprise users. And its new image generation model, Imagen 3, will be available across Gemini, Gemini Advanced, Business and Enterprise in the coming days.

Over the coming days, Gemini Advanced, Business and Enterprise subscribers can start creating and chatting with Gems, the custom versions of Gemini first previewed at I/O. You can customise Gems to act as an expert on topics or refine them toward your specific goals. Simply write instructions for your Gem, give it a name, and then chat with it whenever you want.

With Gems, you can create a team of experts to help you think through a challenging project, brainstorm ideas for an upcoming event, or write the perfect caption for a social media post. Your Gem can also remember a detailed set of instructions to help you save time on tedious, repetitive or difficult tasks.

To help you get started, Gemini is launching a set of premade Gems for different scenarios, including:

  • Learning coach helps you break down complex topics, making them easier to understand.

  • Brainstormer gives you easy inspiration — from fresh ideas for a themed party to the perfect gift for an upcoming birthday.

  • Career guide unlocks your career potential with detailed plans to refine your skills and achieve your career goals.

  • Writing editor can elevate your writing through clear, constructive feedback on everything from grammar to structure.

  • Coding partner levels up your coding skills and can help you build projects and learn as you go.

Gems are now rolling out on desktop and mobile devices to Gemini Advanced, Gemini Business and Gemini Enterprise users in more than 150 countries in most languages.

Gemini has upgraded its creative image generation capabilities, and over the coming days, it is  bringing its latest image generation model, Imagen 3 to Gemini Apps and expanding its availability for users in all languages.

Imagen 3 sets a new standard for image quality, generating images with just a few words. You can even ask Gemini to create images in various styles — like photorealistic landscapes, textured oil paintings or whimsical claymation scenes.

Imagen 3 brings advanced image generation capabilities that come with built-in safeguards and adhere to Gemini’s product design principles. Across a wide range of benchmarks, Imagen 3 performs favourably compared to other image generation models available. And as with Imagen 2, it uses SynthID, Google’s tool for watermarking AI-generated images.

Gemini’s design principles are clear: From start to finish, you remain in control of the creative process. If the initial image you get doesn’t meet your expectations, simply tell Gemini what you’d like to change and it’ll give you a new image.

Over the coming days, Gemini will also start to roll out the generation of images of people, with an early access version for Gemini Advanced, Business, and Enterprise users, starting in English. It has worked to make technical improvements to the product, as well as improved evaluation sets, red-teaming exercises and clear product principles.

With Imagen 3, Gemini has made significant progress in providing a better user experience when generating images of people and does not support the generation of photorealistic, identifiable individuals, depictions of minors or excessively gory, violent or sexual scenes. Of course, as with any generative AI tool, not every image Gemini creates will be perfect, but it will continue to listen to  feedback from early access Gemini Advanced users as it keeps improving. Gemini will gradually roll this out, aiming to bring it to more users and languages soon.

To be among the first to experience these new features, try Gemini Advanced today or sign up for Gemini for Workspace.

Gemini’s big upgrade: Faster responses with 1.5 Flash, expanded access and more

With today’s update, Gemini is getting better at helping you accomplish those tasks in ways that work best for you.

You can now access 1.5 Flash in the unpaid version of Gemini for faster and more helpful responses. Plus, a new feature to further address hallucinations, and expanding the Gemini for Teens experience and mobile app to more places.

See more below

Faster, smarter responses with 1.5 Flash

We’ve heard that one of the main reasons people enjoy using Gemini is because it saves time. Whether you’re using Gemini to write a compelling email or debug tricky code, it’s important to get fast, high-quality responses.

Today we’re upgrading our free-tier experience to Gemini 1.5 Flash for quicker and more helpful responses. With Gemini 1.5 Flash, you’ll notice across-the-board improvements in quality and latency, with especially noticeable improvements in reasoning and image understanding. And just like we greatly expanded the context window of Gemini Advanced, we’re quadrupling Gemini’s to 32K tokens. That means you can have longer back-and-forth conversations and ask Gemini more complex questions — all free of charge.

To get the most out of the larger context window, we’ll soon add the ability to upload files via Google Drive or directly from your device, which has been available in Gemini Advanced. That means you’ll be able to do things like upload your economics study guide and ask Gemini to create practice questions. Gemini will also soon be able to analyze data files for you, allowing you to uncover insights and visualize them through charts and graphics.

Gemini 1.5 Flash is now available to all Gemini users on both web and mobile, in 40 languages and over 230 countries and territories.

Related content within Gemini’s responses

We’ve also heard that people enjoy exploring new topics with Gemini as their go-to research partner. So we’re now displaying links to related content for fact-seeking prompts in Gemini – continuing our work to reduce hallucinations and making it easier to explore websites that help you learn more.

Starting today for English language prompts in certain countries, you can access this additional information on topics directly within Gemini’s responses. Just click on the chip at the end of a paragraph to see websites where you can dive deeper on a certain topic. This isn’t limited to websites: If Gemini’s response references information found using the Gmail extension, you’ll also see inline links to relevant emails.

This also builds on our work to combat hallucinations. In addition to related content links, Gemini’s double-check feature verifies responses by using Google Search to highlight which statements are corroborated or contradicted on the web. For information that is contradicted, you can easily dive deeper to verify the information yourself.

Gemini features in more places

Earlier this year, we introduced the ability to chat with Gemini directly in Google Messages on select Android devices. Starting today, we’re gradually rolling out Gemini in Google Messages to the European Economic Area (EEA), UK and Switzerland, with the ability to chat in newly added languages like French, Polish and Spanish. Click the “Start chat” button in Messages and select Gemini to start brainstorming ideas, plan trips and more — all without leaving the Google Messages app.

We’re also rolling out the Gemini mobile app to more countries, so more people around the world can get help from Gemini on the go.

Expanded access to Gemini for teens

In the coming week, we’ll expand Gemini access to teenagers globally, in over 40 languages. Teens who meet the minimum age requirement to manage their own Google Account will be able to access Gemini to do things like better understand school subjects, prepare for university or get help with creative projects.

We want to create opportunities for teens to benefit from all generative AI has to offer and prepare them for a future where AI will play an even more central role — all while prioritizing safety and meeting their developmental needs. To help them navigate Gemini confidently and safely, we’ve put additional policies and safeguards in place, introduced a teen-specific onboarding process, and included an AI literacy guide to help teens use AI responsibly.
