Detection Technology launches high-resolution and high-speed TDI-cameras to enhance in-line battery inspection

Detection Technology, a global leader in X-ray detector solutions, is broadening its LDA (linear detector array) offering that is based on TDI (time delay integration) technology to enhance in-line battery inspection. The company has launched X-Scan T02 cameras, which come with unique high-resolution, high-speed CMOS (complementary metal oxide semiconductor) sensor design and upgraded front- and back-end electronics to maximize the benefits of industrial inspection to its fullest.

”The X-Scan T02 series combines the advantages of X-ray flat panel detectors (FPD) and line scanners. It features superior image quality as FPDs, and fast scanning speeds associated with LDAs. Very high resolution and high speed make it an ideal solution for in-line industrial inspection that values the most accurate detection of the smallest quality issues, fast product throughputs, and maximized production line up-times,” says Tomi Fält, Director, Product Management, at Detection Technology.

X-Scan T02 is a perfect match for the inspection of different types of battery cells and battery modules at different stages of manufacturing processes. It is designed and optimized for battery inspection of electric vehicles to cover all types of battery cells such as cylindrical, prismatic, and pouch cells with Li-Ion and other commonly used battery chemistries. TDI-boosted line-scan modality enables the rapid and accurate inspection of placement and alignment of laminated electrode layers and other critical features without imaging distortion or projection errors.

Furthermore, the X-Scan T02 series is fitted for quality inspection of applications where very high spatial resolution is critical. Examples of such applications are high-value automotive, aerospace, and electronic components, parts and assemblies, and food and pharmaceutical goods.

The X-Scan T02 features a CMOS sensor with a 50 µm pixel size to enable high sensitivity and spatial resolution with low X-ray doses. Typically, spatial resolution that is dependent on magnification measures a few micrometers. Furthermore, X-Scan T02 enables fast scanning speeds of up to 20–30 kHz line rates. Depending on the cell size, this means 1–1.5 m/s object movement or 1,000–2,500 parts-per-minute speed with TDI-processed native image data resolution.

The series is equipped with smart features and configuration options, which enable object movement to be further sped up, or to multiply parts-per-minute inspection rates in the process. Such features and options include digital TDI operating modality, bidirectional scanning operation, defect pixel mapping and correction functionality, region of interest configuration, programmable ROI mode, and flexible pixel binning options.

“We are particularly proud that the X-Scan T02 comes with the 10 Gigabit Ethernet interface and is compatible with the GigE Vision Protocol. This enables robust, reliable, and fast communication between the detector and X-ray systems, and supports third-party software platforms without the need to have a specific image grabber hardware on the system computer.”

The series operates in the energy range of 20–200 kV to cover different X-ray imaging applications. Its industry-standard mechanics support easy system integration and upgrades. The product family has active area length options of 200 and 400 mm and a compact size. In addition, its high resolution enables the system configurations to be shrunk even further as there is less need for high magnification.

The product family has the highest level of integration and a simplified system design. This delivers digitally enhanced image quality, total cost savings, minimized risks, longer lifetimes, and maximized up-times to original equipment manufacturers (OEM) and system integrators. Furthermore, the series is equipped with state-of-the-art radiation hardness.

The X-Scan T02 camera family will be available to order by the end of 2023 and deliveries will start in 2024. For speeding up design and system integration, world-class engineering support and a customer evaluation unit are available. The company will showcase the benefits and the key features of X-Scan T02 at Control, the international trade fair for quality assurance, in Stuttgart, Germany on 9–12 May 2023.

Tech Review – Switchbot indoor home security system

Home security is a must have be it indoor or outdoors and yet I hear today so called security experts stating there is no need at all for indoor security cameras. That is a topic at hand for another day should any security expert want to challenge me on that you can certainly fire away but I feel I will be left waiting the same way I was left reeling hering such on our airwaves more than once and is simply a pathetic comment to make.

The Switchbot indoor setup comes in several packages tailored for your needs or you can customise your own they have several bundles on offer or you can make it your own which is cool but do check out the bundles they have and not only that they are amongst the cheapest out there today and while I say cheap I have tried and tested these and avoid the cheap offerings you tend to see on Facebook that will rope you into subscription plans and below par cameras.

In our setup we have a motion sensor and window sensor on the camera side we have a 1080p pan and tilt a 2K pan and tilt and an indoor camera so i strategically place these around the home and at any entry points I seen where the could be a breach so to speak given I do have an external set up around the perimeter of my house

There is an app for these and no hub required unlike the old days when you did need a hub but you can use one if you like as they have hubs available but the less things plugged in the better these days and we just went on without one and all worked well.. Check out the app below but we have a good detailed video review below to check out what you can do in the app and the features included which is plenty I might add.

With the cameras you are in control and full control it is best to get an SD card to store locally on the device which you can then see on your smartphone or tablet these also work with Google and Alexa for those interested and can be put onto you home hubs if you wish. in the app you have so many settings to pick from which we go into detail with in the video review below but in short this setup is excellent and simple to use an navigate even for a novice there is many parameters you can pick from or customise in the app and overall for me as a whole the system is well thought out and you can get going in literally minutes.

Let’s look at the products we have tried out which give real time notifications but it must be noted you need good WiFi and lag latency can be an issue with any home security package similar and is an issue for me despite having a good plan and speed regardless what my network tells me and handing over my actual speeds and we all know how it works there and on how many other devices are connected to your hub.

With all cameras there is two way audio screen shot/photo capture, pinch to zoom, quality of image and video options, zone detection, recording on the spot and much more..

You can customize your own detection zones to set just exactly where SwitchBot Indoor Cam should be watching when sending alerts, making it easier to focus more on the areas at home that matter most.
Important note
SwitchBot Indoor Cam uses high-level encryption technology to ensure your data is protected with the highest security so that no one else can access it. Your recorded data is stored in the cloud even if your device is offline (via a monthly cloud service). We also use GDPR and CCPA certifications to make sure that your user data is better protected.
Check out the video for more below and for me this is easy to recommend and would even consider changing my entire setup to this. So all we need now from them is a video doorbell. One thing I would like to see going forward is not having plugs for all the cameras and go wireless but other than that you should look into their stuff as it is good value and works well.

OPPO Unveils Series of New Imaging Technologies, Leading the Future of Smartphone Imaging Development

Today, leading global smart device brand OPPO revealed a series of breakthroughs in smartphone imaging technology focused on upgrades to sensors, modules, and algorithms. The innovations include OPPO’s next-generation RGBW sensor, OPPO’s 85-200mm continuous optical zoom, OPPO’s Five-axis OIS technology, and OPPO’s next-generation under-screen camera. Unveiled at OPPO’s Future Imaging Technology launch event, the announcements reflect OPPO’s commitment to optimising existing imaging technologies to allow users to capture top-quality photography with ease.

Next-generation RGBW sensor enhances light sensitivity with improved colour performance

OPPO’s new RGBW sensor significantly improves light sensitivity by introducing additional white sub-pixels(W), groundbreaking DTI technology, and OPPO’s self-developed 4-in-1 pixel algorithm. Providing improved low-light capture, the new sensor captures 60% more light than previous sensors while achieving a 35% reduction in noise* to deliver clearer and brighter images in low-light conditions.

The upgraded sensor also offers improved colour performance. By increasing the level of computing power needed to execute complex algorithms, the sensor maximises the amount of data extracted from white pixels. OPPO’s 4-in-1 pixel algorithm boosts the sensor’s colour performance to prevent issues such as colour inaccuracy. Industry-leading DTI pixel isolation technology and DeepSi processing prevent sub-pixel crosstalk to improve image quality.  The next-generation RGBW sensor is also able to enhance photo and video portraits, offering improvements to skin, texture and contrast. The new sensor will be commercially released in OPPO products from Q4 2021.

New modules to support super smooth zoom and clearer snapshots

OPPO’s new 85-200mm module delivers continuous optical zoom to support super smooth zoom. Capturing sharp images at every magnification level, from close-up portraits to landscapes, users can enjoy a smooth transition with the continuous optical zoom range for professional-level image quality. The module avoids problems like jumping, white balance inaccuracy, and colour bias experienced by conventional multi-camera zoom systems. The module redesigns the hardware of the existing structural module, with advancements including:

  • Adoption of G+P (glass + plastic) lens technology with two ultra-thin, high-precision aspheric glass lenses to boost optical effects such as minimising stray light.
  • A tunnel magnetoresistance sensor (TMR sensor) to allow the lenses within the camera module to move with increased stability and precision.
  • An upgraded guiding shaft motor to increase the dynamic tilt which the lens system can be moved at, supporting continuous optical zoom at higher magnifications.

The new OPPO five-axis OIS guarantees clearer snapshots by receiving and analysing  movement data from the gyroscope and using algorithms to break it down into respective components. The data is then passed to the lens and image sensor, which are driven by ball-bearing motors and shape memory alloys. When the amplitude of the movement is relatively large, sensor-shift OIS will be utilised – including horizontal shifting (x), vertical shifting (y), and rolling – together with algorithm compensation, to achieve five-axis stabilisation. This allows a maximum stabilisation angle of ±3°, three times more than traditional OIS technology on mobile devices, while the sensor can also shift with a precision of 2μm. For night-time or motion shots, OPPO’s proprietary algorithm technology improves stability, clarity, and colour performance, increasing the vibration compensation performance by up to 65%. The OPPO Five-axis OIS will be commercially released in OPPO products from Q1 2022.

New Algorithm: OPPO algorithms support next-generation USC to deliver the perfect balance between screen and camera quality

OPPO showcased its next-generation under-screen camera solution for future smartphones. The innovative pixel geometry ensures a 400-PPI high-quality display in the USC area. Using transparent wiring and a new design, the result provides clear display quality with a smoother visual experience. OPPO’s proprietary screen technology enables each pixel circuit to drive only 1 pixel. Combined with OPPO’s precise algorithmic compensation technology, this allows the screen brightness to be precisely controlled with a deviation of about 2%, and an improved screen lifespan of up to 50%.

OPPO’s Research Institute has developed a series of imaging AI algorithms including diffraction reduction, anti-condensation, HDR and AWB, to optimise imaging quality of the under-screen camera. By training its AI diffraction reduction model using tens of thousands of images to control problems caused by light diffraction, users can capture clearer, more natural images.

As consumer demand for better imaging technologies evolves, OPPO continues to strengthen its global R&D capacities to provide users with an even better imaging experience.
