Viltrox Brings AI Autofocus to Manual Lenses with NexusFocus F1

Viltrox is pleased to announce NexusFocus, a new autofocus solution for manual lenses. The NexusFocus F1 is a compact, lightweight adapter that fits unobtrusively in between the lens and the camera body. The system is compatible with Sony E-mount cameras and PL-mount Cine and CineMod lenses. The Viltrox NexusFocus mobile app allows for effortless setup, with a wide range of lens calibration profiles ready-to-go. The system automatically detects calibration status on startup, so users can just mount the adapter, power on, and start creating (automatic calibration is currently only available on the iOS app version).

The app also provides Bluetooth wireless control with smartphones and iPads, allowing limitless camera placement options and versatile single-user operation. The adapter features a clear backlit status display panel on top, so users can instantly check the operating mode and lens data.

Viltrox Announces Two New Affordable, Pocketable Ultra-Wide Autofocus Prime Lenses

Viltrox is pleased to announce two new ultra-wide autofocus prime lenses in its popular, lightweight Air Series: the AF 9mm F2.8 Air for APS-C cameras (available with E, Z and XF mounts) and the AF 14mm F4.0 Air for full-frame systems (FE/Z mounts). Weighing less than 190 grams, the new lenses expand creative possibilities for the many photographers and video makers who are seeing the need for lightweight, accessible, high-performance ultra-wide lens choices.

Viltrox AF 9mm F2.8 Air
The AF 9mm F2.8 Air delivers ultra-wide versatility in a remarkably compact design. With a 113.8° field of view (equivalent to 13.5mm), it is well-suited for landscapes, architecture, and vlogging. Its fast, large f2.8 aperture enhances low-light shooting while also offering subject isolation. The optical design includes 13 elements in 11 groups – with 3 ED (Extra-low dispersion) lenses, 3 HR (high-refractive index) lenses, and 2 aspherical lenses – for sharpness and control across the frame.

Despite its advanced construction, the lens weighs just 175 grams in E and XF mounts, making it ideal for travel and on-the-go shooting. With a minimum focus distance of 0.13 meters and 0.15x magnification, it also supports creative close-ups. The STM autofocus motor ensures smooth, quiet, and accurate focusing, fully compatible with modern eye and face detection systems for both stills and video.

Viltrox AF 14mm F4.0 Air
The AF 14mm F4.0 Air brings a similarly compact approach to full-frame shooting. The 112° field of view, captures sweeping landscapes, cityscapes, interiors, and even astrophotography views – all with clarity and impact. The F4.0 aperture is balanced for sharpness and distortion control, while the 12-element, 9-group design – featuring 4 ED, 2 HR, and 2 aspherical lenses – ensures professional-grade optical performance.

At just 170 grams in FE mount and 185 grams in the Z mount version, it is exceptionally portable. A minimum focusing distance of 0.13 meters with 0.23x maximum magnification makes it particularly useful for capturing rich details at close range and emphasizing dramatic foregrounds. Like its 9mm F2.8 APS-C counterpart, an STM autofocus motor provides accurate, silent focusing and advanced subject tracking with eye and face detection.

JMGO PicoPlay 1080P HD Portable Projector Review

The JMGO PicoPlay is an innovative, portable projector that stands out in the mini-projector market. It’s designed to be more than just a projector; it’s a 3-in-1 entertainment hub that combines a Full  1080P HD projector, a Bluetooth speaker, and a dynamic ambient light. The device is roughly the size of a travel mug, making it incredibly easy to carry in a backpack or even a large pocket and it is also a powerbank but needs a mains plug

Design and Portability

The PicoPlay’s most striking feature is its unique canister-like design with an 88° rotating gimbal and something I have not seen before. This clever design allows you to easily project images from a wall to the ceiling with minimal effort. It weighs just over 2 pounds, and while it doesn’t have a built-in battery, it can be powered by a 65W Type-C power bank (or an optional stand with a battery) for true portability. 

Picture Quality and Performance

For its small size, the PicoPlay delivers surprisingly good picture quality. It features a native 1080p Full HD resolution and a brightness of 400 ISO lumens (the PicoPlay+ model has 450 ISO lumens). While this is bright enough for well-lit rooms, it performs well in dim or dark environments, producing a sharp and colorful image up to around 50-60 diagonal inches. The projector also supports HDR10 and covers a wide color gamut (124% of Rec. 709), which helps make colors pop. The Flexismart system is a major highlight, offering automatic autofocus, keystone correction, and screen alignment, which simplifies the setup process to just a few seconds. The manual keystone correction feature is very fast compared to others here. The remote control has tactile clicky responsive buttons.

Smart Features and Usability

One of the PicoPlay’s biggest selling points is the integration of Google TV. This means you have access to a vast library of streaming apps like Netflix, YouTube, and Amazon Prime Video right out of the box, with dedicated shortcuts on the remote. The projector also features a special Vertical Play mode, which is optimized for content from platforms like TikTok and Instagram Reels, a unique feature for a projector in this category. Additionally, the device can be used as a standalone 8-watt Bluetooth speaker, with a dynamic ambient light mode that can sync with music, turning it into a party hub.

Recently JMGO launched the PicoPlay Portable Projector and as huge projector fans and several in use at the office and in house we had to test this out. Projectors for me are a favourite over a TV and has been for years and this will not change, however the technology is changing in projectors too and becoming more popular.
