Leading Irish platform for renters, landlords and estate agents, RentDodo, has today announced the launch of its unique new feature, TenantCert. This latest addition to the PropTech company’s offering aims to help eliminate growing levels of rental fraud in the midst of a housing crisis. RentDodo provides tenants with an easier and more secure rental experience, mitigating friction points between landlords, and property managers.
Through TenantCert, both renters and landlords can verify their identities digitally, removing the hassle, paperwork and security checks involved. Users of the new feature simply need to upload personal information and share their profiles through a link, no paper documents or email attachments required. It also provides income verification for property seekers to demonstrate that they can afford to pay the rent without divulging sensitive information. Users simply need to verify their monthly income using open banking, eliminating the need to share copies of payslips and bank statements.
According to the ESRI, 29 percent of households are renting in Ireland. With housing demand exceeding supply, rental fraud continues to increase. This occurs when potential tenants are duped into paying deposits and additional fees for properties that don’t exist. Figures from An Garda Siochana show there was a 38% increase in accommodation fraud in Ireland alone last year. TenantCert aims to help curb this growing problem through its ability to verify identities, earnings and properties for all involved.
Founded in 2021, RentDodo enables users to manage their entire rental journey on one platform and is compliant with tenancy and data protection regulations. Free to use, it’s hoped the TenantCert feature will become the new industry standard for renters, landlords and letting agents across Ireland.
Speaking about the launch of TenantCert, RentDodo Co-Founder Conor McGarry said:
“We are delighted to launch TenantCert, a new feature which aims to help renters and landlords provide verification digitally to help eliminate fraud in the rental sector. An increase in rental scams over the past two years has added an unnecessary layer of stress and hassle for renters, landlords and estate agents. Through TenantCert we hope to provide all of our users with that added level of assurance and security whilst navigating an extremely turbulent housing market.”

But instead of aiding in survival in the great outdoors, this card helps users thrive in the modern financial jungle. They work similarly to traditional debit cards but ensure you keep more of your hard-earned money.
2. The Rising Popularity: Why are Zero-fee debit cards Gaining Traction?

This is the potential power of a zero-fee debit card. It’s akin to discovering a hidden stream in a desert – a refreshing respite from the parched lands of fees and charges. By cutting out these fees, users find themselves with a little extra padding in their wallets, making it a smart choice for the financially savvy.
“Applying for a Chime Debit Card is totally free, and it just takes less than 2 minutes.”
4. A Glimpse into the Future: How Zero-fee Debit Cards are Shaping the Banking World
The banking industry, much like an old tree, is known for its deep roots and resistance to rapid change. However, zero-fee debit cards are like a new, robust shoot sprouting from this tree, bringing with it the promise of a fresher, more accessible financial future. Their increasing demand is pushing banks to reevaluate their fee structures and customer-centric approaches, ushering in a new era where the customer truly feels valued and prioritized.
5. Making the Right Choice: Tips for Selecting the Perfect No-fee debit card
With numerous options flooding the market, how does one pick the right zero-fee debit card? It’s like choosing the best pair of shoes for a marathon – you want the perfect fit without blisters (or fees). So, isn’t it time you dived into the world of savings with the ultimate zero-fee debit card?
In today’s dynamic business landscape, the world of retail and logistics is undergoing a transformation. The traditional linear model, where products move from manufacturers to consumers in a straight line, is giving way to a more circular approach known as reverse retail. Reverse retail systems focus on the recovery, recycling, and reintegration of products and materials back into the supply chain, creating a more sustainable and efficient system. To thrive in this evolving landscape, businesses must adapt and grow their reverse retail systems and logistics. In this article, we will explore seven key tips to help companies navigate this shift successfully.
Embrace Circular Economy Principles
The foundation of a robust reverse retail system is embracing the principles of the circular economy. Instead of the traditional linear “take, make, dispose” model, businesses must prioritize “reduce, reuse, recycle.” Start by designing products with recyclability in mind. This means considering the materials used, ease of disassembly, and the potential for refurbishment or remanufacturing.
Moreover, companies should explore partnerships with recycling and reprocessing facilities. By recovering and repurposing materials, they can close the loop, reducing waste and minimizing the environmental impact. Businesses like Patagonia have effectively implemented this approach by encouraging customers to return and repair their products, thereby extending their lifecycle.
Optimize Reverse Logistics
Reverse logistics is a critical component of any successful reverse retail system. This process involves the return of products from consumers to the manufacturer, retailer, or a third-party entity. To optimize reverse logistics, companies should focus on streamlining the return process, ensuring it is user-friendly and efficient. This can involve implementing easy-to-follow return procedures, prepaid shipping labels, and hassle-free return centers.
Additionally, adopting technology such as RFID tracking or barcoding can help monitor the flow of returned goods. This real-time visibility allows businesses to anticipate return volumes, reduce handling costs, and enhance the overall customer experience. Amazon’s “Returnless Refunds” is an example of an innovative approach where they refund the customer without requiring the return of certain low-cost items, making the process more convenient.
Tap Into Trade-in as a Service (TaaS) Platform
A key aspect of building a successful reverse retail system lies in tapping into Trade-in as a Service (TaaS) platforms. These platforms offer an innovative solution for the exchange of used products, allowing customers to trade in their older items for value or credit toward new purchases, as explained by the experts for TaaS. You can visit their website to find out more about how these platforms provide a convenient and sustainable method for consumers to dispose of their products while extending the lifespan of those items. By integrating TaaS into your reverse retail strategy, you can create a seamless and customer-friendly experience. Customers can easily evaluate the value of their used items, initiate the trade-in process, and receive credit for their next purchase. This not only promotes customer loyalty but also drives new sales and reduces the environmental impact of discarded products. Companies like Apple have successfully implemented TaaS programs, allowing customers to trade in their old devices for discounts on new ones, resulting in higher customer retention and a sustainable approach to product life cycles.
Implement Sustainable Packaging
Sustainable packaging is a key element in growing a successful reverse retail system. As consumers become increasingly environmentally conscious, businesses must respond by using eco-friendly materials and reducing excessive packaging. Implementing innovative packaging designs can also facilitate the return process, making it easy for customers to reseal and return items.
Incorporating the use of reusable packaging can also have a substantial impact. Companies like Loop have demonstrated the potential of this concept by offering products in durable, reusable containers. These containers are collected, cleaned, and refilled, reducing single-use packaging waste.
Collaborate with Partners
Collaboration is at the heart of an effective reverse retail system. Businesses should actively seek partnerships with stakeholders across the supply chain, including suppliers, retailers, and recycling facilities. These partnerships can help streamline the process of returning, refurbishing, and reselling products.
For example, H&M has established a “Take Care” initiative, partnering with I:CO to collect and recycle old clothing. Similarly, Dell has worked with Goodwill to provide consumers with an easy way to recycle their old electronics, creating a sustainable solution for e-waste management.
Leverage Data and Analytics
In the age of big data, leveraging data and analytics can offer a competitive advantage in growing reverse retail systems and logistics. By analyzing consumer behavior, return patterns, and product life cycles, businesses can make informed decisions to optimize their processes.
For instance, using predictive analytics, companies can anticipate which products are likely to be returned and adjust their inventory and production accordingly. This reduces excess inventory, minimizes waste, and improves the overall sustainability of the supply chain.
Educate and Engage Customers
Educating and engaging customers is vital for the success of reverse retail systems. Consumers need to understand the benefits of returning and recycling products and be motivated to participate. Businesses can achieve this through marketing campaigns, educational materials, and incentives.
Programs like Nike’s “Reuse-A-Shoe” initiative encourage consumers to return old athletic shoes, which are then recycled into material for sports surfaces and new shoes. These initiatives not only reduce waste but also build brand loyalty and customer engagement.
In conclusion, the shift towards reverse retail systems and logistics is an inevitable consequence of the growing awareness of environmental sustainability and resource conservation. To thrive in this evolving landscape, businesses must embrace circular economy principles, optimize reverse logistics, tap into TaaS platforms, implement sustainable packaging, collaborate with partners, leverage data and analytics, and educate and engage customers.
These seven tips are not only essential for reducing waste and minimizing environmental impact but also for improving operational efficiency and customer satisfaction. By adopting these practices, companies can not only grow their reverse retail systems but also contribute to a more sustainable and resilient supply chain for the future. As we move forward, the businesses that embrace these changes will be the ones leading the charge toward a more sustainable and circular economy.

Minister for Trade Promotion, Digital and Company Regulation, Dara Calleary TD, joined Microsoft today as it launched an ambitious and far reaching, national Artificial Intelligence (AI) skilling programme. The programme is the central part of Microsoft’s plan to ‘Skill Up Ireland’ – helping to ensure that every person and organisation is ready and equipped for an AI future.
According to Microsoft’s recent Work Trend Index, published in June 2023, AI is expected to create a whole new way of working. 4 in 10 (42%) survey respondents said they spend too much time searching for the right data. 1 in 5 (21%) workers reported using Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools in their job, while of those who do not use AI (67%), almost 1 in 4 say they would be interested in doing so. The same report identified skills availability as the most important obstacle to the adoption of AI.
All trends indicate that AI is becoming more prolific in the workplace, yet employees don’t feel ready to take advantage of the technology. To address this challenge, Microsoft has designed a National AI skilling programme rooted in providing people of all ages, experiences and ambitions with the opportunity to develop their AI fluency and skills for an AI future. The programme includes a range of AI learning opportunities for young people in primary and post-primary education, as well as courses for graduates and mid-career professionals looking to upskill and specialise in AI.
As part of today’s announcement and its commitment to ‘Skill Up Ireland’, Microsoft announced the details of three new programmes that are now available, which provide access to industry recognised certificates for adult learners, including in Generative AI, and Microsoft Dream Space certificates for student learners.
The first of the new initiatives announced by Microsoft today is a bespoke 6-week “Introduction to AI” course that will be delivered through live virtual sessions. The free course is available to anyone over 18 and is designed to help equip those with little or no understanding of AI with the foundational knowledge, skills and competencies they need to engage more confidently with the current and emerging applications of AI. Learners who complete the course will receive a digital badge and they can also take an exam and earn a Professional Certificate upon passing.
The second initiative announced today is ‘Skills for Jobs’ which has been designed to help graduates and those currently in the workplace to advance their digital and AI skills so they can participate fully in an AI-enabled economy. The initiative offers new courses and provides access to eight Professional Certificates to help people learn the foundational skills and relevant hard and soft skills needed for in-demand tech and tech-enabled jobs. Within the offering there is a dedicated AI learning pathway where learners can improve their AI fluency and achieve a Professional Certificate in Generative AI. This programme will be delivered in partnership with Fastrack into Information Technology.
Finally, as part of its commitment to the next generation, the company also announced the expansion of the Microsoft Dream Space digital skills offering for primary and post-primary students. Every student now engaging with Dream Space will learn about the fundamentals of AI. This will cover content that looks at how it is created to where it applies in their everyday lives and the opportunities and challenges that come with it including ethical and responsible AI. In addition, early next year a new series of Dream Space TV with lessons created to ensure AI literacy will be made available to almost 1,000,000 students, as well as their teachers, across the island of Ireland. Dream Space certificates will be issued to students who complete the lesson series.
Microsoft’s focus on AI skilling and the new programmes announced today align fully with the Government’s National AI Strategy ‘AI – Here for Good’ which aims to expand access to courses that educate the general public about AI as well as providing AI upskilling and reskilling opportunities for those in the workforce.
Welcoming the announcement, Minister for Trade Promotion, Digital and Company Regulation Dara Calleary TD, said: “The use and deployment of AI can bring with it huge benefits and efficiencies for society and the economy, but if we are to seize those opportunities, we must be prepared for them and a key part of that is education and upskilling. This Government recognises how critical it is for government, industry and the education sector to work closely together to rapidly expand access to digital and AI skills.
“I commend Microsoft for playing their part in ensuring that we are building public awareness and informed decision making in order to use AI for our collective good. In particular, the bespoke “Introduction to AI” course is a very welcome contribution to wider digital literacy and digital skills efforts. By encouraging a lifelong learning approach to AI skilling, we can realise the ambition of our National AI Strategy and work towards achieving our goal of 75% of businesses using AI by 2030.”
Minister of State for Skills and Further Education Niall Collins TD said: “I welcome the announcement from Microsoft today. It is an excellent complement to the raft of AI upskilling and reskilling initiatives under way in Higher and Further Education and will help us continue to hit our targets under the National Digital Strategy and EU Digital Decade to 2030.”
James O’Connor, Microsoft Ireland Site Leader and Vice-President Microsoft Global Operations Service Centre, said: “AI offers tremendous potential to empower workers, people and communities across Ireland – but only if everyone, everywhere has the skills to use it. With the World Economic Forum estimating that 60% of all employees will need reskilling by 2027, it’s vital that industry play its part in helping the current and future generations to succeed in an AI era.
“At Microsoft we believe that AI-enabled innovation will generate economic and societal opportunities for communities and economies right across the globe and here in Ireland we must be ready to take advantage of this opportunity. The ability to work alongside and utilise AI technology effectively and ethically in the workplace is becoming an essential skill for many jobs.
“By rolling out our new AI learning programmes, we are empowering people of all ages, backgrounds and experiences to gain the analytical, creative thinking and technical skills that are necessary to participate fully in an AI-enabled economy. In the corporate world, where remote workforces and cloud technologies have become the new norm, cyber security has taken centre stage. Recent statistics underscore the growing need for resilient cyber security measures as cyber threats continue to proliferate.
The Alarming Reality: Cyber Threats on the Rise
The Cyber Security Breaches Survey, a comprehensive report on the state of cyber security in the UK, has unveiled a sobering truth. In 2022, an eye-opening 39% of surveyed businesses in the United Kingdom fell prey to cyber incidents. These attacks, characterised by their sophistication and the difficulty of preventing them, have fundamentally altered the way we perceive cyber security.
Once perceived as a possibility, cyber threats are now considered an inevitability. This shift in mindset has driven an increased demand for disaster recovery solutions that are both comprehensive and capable of rapid response and recovery. The reality is clear: businesses must take proactive measures to fortify their defences in the face of an ever-expanding digital threat landscape.
Outsourcing Proves To Be A Strategic Shift for Large UK Businesses
Among the notable trends stemming from the evolving threat landscape is the growing trend of large UK businesses choosing to outsource their cyber security operations. A staggering 60% of these enterprises have opted for this strategic move, reaping substantial benefits in the process.
The decision to outsource is motivated by several key factors, each of which underscores the wisdom behind this strategic choice:
Access to Specialised Expertise: Cyber threats have grown in complexity and scope, making it challenging for in-house teams to keep pace with the evolving threat landscape. Outsourcing security operations grants access to expert partners who specialise in staying one step ahead of cyber adversaries.
Abundant Resources: Cyber security is resource-intensive, from advanced tools and technology to personnel. By outsourcing, businesses gain access to a wealth of resources that might otherwise be cost-prohibitive.
Stringent Security Standards: Compliance with stringent security standards is imperative, especially for large enterprises. Expert cyber security partners are well-versed in these standards, ensuring businesses meet and exceed regulatory requirements.
By entrusting their cyber security to external partners, large UK businesses are freed from the burden of maintaining in-house cyber security teams, allowing them to focus on their core operations. This strategic shift is not merely a cost-saving measure; it is a proactive step toward enhanced cyber resilience.
The Way Forward: A Comprehensive Approach to Cyber Resilience
In light of the rising threat landscape, businesses must adopt a holistic approach to cyber resilience. This approach encompasses various elements, each essential for safeguarding business operations in an increasingly digital world.
Continuous Data Protection, or CDP, has emerged as a cornerstone of modern cyber security. CDP captures and tracks data changes, automatically saving every version of data as it evolves. This technology enables businesses to recover data at any given point in time, even mere seconds before an outage occurs. In an era of relentless cyber threats, CDP is an indispensable safety net.
Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS) simplifies the complexities of disaster recovery by entrusting them to external partners. These partners provide fully managed services, offering expertise from implementation to recovery. In the face of an impending disaster, DRaaS ensures swift response and recovery, allowing businesses to resume operations with minimal downtime.
Peter Moorhead, Cyber Security CTO at Telefónica Tech, underscores the importance of adopting Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS) solution; “DRaaS not only empowers businesses to tackle modern cybersecurity threats with continuous data protection but also provides the expertise, resources, and standards required to navigate the complex cybersecurity landscape. As cyber attacks become more sophisticated, organisations must invest in resilient disaster recovery strategies to safeguard their operations and maintain business continuity.”
With cloud computing becoming integral to business operations, it is imperative to develop strategies that ensure data security and recovery in the cloud. As businesses transition from legacy infrastructure to the cloud, disaster recovery requirements evolve. Having a trusted partner by your side who comprehends these changes is essential, regardless of whether you are in the early stages of transition or fully immersed in the cloud.
Sustainability is a crucial consideration in all areas of business, including disaster recovery. As businesses seek to minimise their environmental impact. DRaaS can mitigate the ecological footprint. By managing all backups and servers, DRaaS reduces the environmental impact associated with purchasing, maintaining, and upgrading legacy infrastructure. Additionally, the flexibility to add or remove services as needed optimises resource usage and minimises waste.
The Round-Up
The statistics from the Cyber Security Breaches Survey serve as a stark reminder of the urgent need for robust security measures. Embracing continuous data protection, disaster recovery as a service, and sustainable practices not only fortifies a business’s resilience but also contributes to a more responsible and secure future. As companies navigate the dynamic landscape of business in the digital age, one thing is certain: cyber threats are a reality, and it’s up to all businesses to fortify their defences and protect their digital assets.
