How Technology Helps Restaurant Owners Manage Payments More Quickly

Technology impacts almost every aspect of our lives. It has been an important part of the hospitality industry for a long time. Today’s technological advancements are being used in restaurants around the world to great success. These advancements are helping restaurant owners to expand their businesses. Nowadays, creating a website for your restaurant is simple, even if you don’t have any experience building websites. With a restaurant website maker, you can easily create a professional-looking website that showcases your menu, hours, location, and more in just a few minutes.

This article will tell you how technology helps restaurant owners to manage payments more quickly:

Touchscreen POS Terminals

Implementing smart retail technology, such as touchscreen POS terminals, is highly efficient. They are used in most businesses nowadays. Touchscreen terminals are powered by POS software, like the micros restaurant system, which operate with an easy-to-use interface. POS software simplifies the order-taking process, so that staff can take orders at a quicker pace. Most POS systems also have customer-facing screens that allow customers to see their orders being placed in real-time.

Higher-end POS terminals also allow for payments to be made through a reader integrated with the terminal itself.

Pay at the Table

For several years now, businesses have encouraged the use of pay-at-table applications. These applications display a restaurant’s menu and allow customers to order directly from their phone, without having to communicate with staff.

Due to strict COVID-19 regulations introduced to the hospitality sector by governments from around the world, restaurants have made pay-at-table applications mandatory.

Pay-at-table applications give a restaurant’s guests the ability to order and pay for their meal without having to break social distancing guidelines and without having to come into contact with other people. This gives your staff and your guests peace of mind. It also allows your restaurant to run more efficiently. If you need some furniture you should check out what is on offer here for restaurants

Some restaurants, like Yo! Sushi, for example, have used conveyor belts for many years. Now they use them in combination with pay-at-table applications to further reduce the chances of viral transmission taking place inside their restaurants. Guests order from their phones, and their meal is delivered by conveyor belt.

Contactless Payments

Contactless payment is very important to customers. It is fast, efficient, and easy. They don’t have to bother counting out notes or writing a check, and instead, can tap their card and get back to entertaining their guests.

Contactless also allows customers to avoid physical contact with people, which is very important in the wake of the pandemic.

The only downside to contactless payment machines is that there are often limits to how much people can spend. While this does stop fraud, it also makes them less helpful in preventing the spread of viruses.

Self-Order Kiosks

Self-order kiosks are very popular in large fast-food restaurants like Burger King and McDonald’s. They are also growing in popularity among smaller businesses. They allow guests to pay for their food without having to interact with other people. They also make it easier for guests to review a restaurant’s menu and customise their order.

If self-order kiosks are used correctly, then they can actually increase the amount of money that your customers spend. They can also reduce queue times and help your staff to manage orders more efficiently.

Because multiple people will use a self-order kiosk, it’s important that it is regularly disinfected and cleaned. You should also offer bottles of antibacterial hand gel at tables next to each kiosk.

KDS

KDS or kitchen display systems are another great technological addition to the hospitality sector. They do not process payments but are still very effective. In busy restaurants, screens are used to display orders. This helps kitchen staff to keep on track and get orders out to guests quickly.

They are typically mounted on the wall, which allows all kitchen staff to view open orders on a single screen. These screens display orders in real-time, so staff can begin putting meals together the minute that the order is placed.

Receipt and Kitchen Printers

After payment has been processed, most customers will expect to receive a receipt. A receipt will tell them what they have ordered and, in most cases, give them an order number. Receipt printers are used by the front-of-house staff. In busy restaurants, printers are very important.

Kitchen printers are used as an alternative to the above-mentioned kitchen display systems. They are less common nowadays but are still used in smaller restaurants. Kitchen printers print out orders as they come in. These receipts are then stuck to a board. The kitchen staff will begin preparing orders after the receipts have been stuck to the board.

Cash Drawer

While cash is used less and less, more so in the wake of the pandemic, cash drawers are still important. They are also vulnerable to theft. It’s important that you invest in the highest quality cash drawer that you can.

You can find high quality, modern cash drawers that utilise the latest technology to secure your money. You should make sure that you empty out your cash draw every night, keep it locked, and do not leave it unattended.

Food-Delivery Applications

With the first COVID-19 lockdown came a huge surge in the food-delivery industry. Restaurants that had never previously offered takeout began using applications like Just Eat, Uber Eats, and Deliveroo just to keep their doors open. Most businesses are still relying on food-delivery applications, even after lockdowns have finished. Food-delivery applications are now a must-have for all types of restaurants, especially since the government cannot rule out further lockdowns taking place.

Some restaurants have also designed their own native food-delivery applications. This gives customers the ability to order from a business without using a third-party application and having to pay the fees and costs associated with using these applications.

Prebooking Applications

Prebooking applications have existed for a long time. They allow customers to book tables from the comfort of their homes, without having to worry about walking in and not finding a table or battling through busy phone lines. Some of these applications also allow customers to order drinks and starters to be brought to them after they arrive. This allows them to relax upon arriving and gives them time to collect themselves before they begin looking through the menu and selecting main course meals.

Technology has allowed businesses to streamline their payments. As time goes on, more and more incredible technological innovations will be introduced into the hospitality sector. For restaurants, this is fantastic.

Synchrony T800

The Synchrony T800 Towers are the largest speakers of the series with a wider frequency bandwidth and the largest power handling capacity amongst Synchrony speakers. Equipped with an all-new 5-way transitional array employing three 8″ woofers, a 5.25″ midrange driver, all featuring cast baskets and woven carbon-fibre cones, and a 1″ titanium dome tweeter in a heavily braced MDF cabinet, the T800s are capable of filling large rooms with detailed bass right down to the lowest register.

The driver platform results in a dramatic reduction of non-linear distortion, allowing for higher sound pressure levels without compression or increased THD and IM distortion. This can be immediately recognized by a more open midrange and deep bass impact. Small gradations in sound, or micro-dynamics, are vastly improved over previous driver platforms. The crossover in the T800 Premium Tower is this is the most advanced amplitude-perfect Linkwitz-Riley 4th order crossover that PSB Speakers has ever utilized, featuring high-voltage poly film capacitors and oxygen-free interconnect wire for complete driver control.

Synchrony T600

The driver platform of the T600 consists of three 6.5″ woofers and a 5.25″ midrange driver, all with cast aluminium baskets, woven carbon fibre cones and rubber surrounds, and a 1″ titanium dome tweeter with Ferrofluid and Neodymium magnet. As a result, a dramatic reduction of non-linear distortion allows for higher sound pressure levels without compression or increased THD and IM distortion. The advanced driver assembly features four elements (Faraday ring, shorted turn, longer voice coil, symmetrical magnetic drive) that all work in harmony to reduce driver distortion.

Synchrony B600

Using the same driver platform as the Synchrony towers, the B600 Bookshelf Speakers can be an easy complement to the towers or a standalone stand-out compact listening option. The 2-way bass reflex design features a 6.5″ woofer with cast aluminum basket and woven carbon fibre cone, and a 1″ titanium dome tweeter with Ferrofluid and Neodymium magnet. The light and rigid nature of woven carbon fibre cone delivers wider bandwidth — about half an octave deeper bass response over other PSB driver designs — with greater efficiency (88dB at 1m), higher power handling, and lower distortion.

Centre Channels – PWM Series

The PWM is designed to support the Synchrony Series as centre channels and effect channels in multi-channel applications. Incorporating advanced driver and cabinet design, the PWM series offer open and constant dispersion, tonal balance and bass extension of a truly refined loudspeaker many times their size. The PWM’s can be oriented either vertically or horizontally and be used as a front left, right, centre or surround channel speakers. Whether as part of a complete on wall system, a basic TV application or as an on-wall centre channel solution for floor standing speakers; the PWM Series exceed expectations in every way

Exquisitely True to Nature

Whether used in a multi-channel set-up or in stereo listening applications, the Synchrony series represents PSB’s signature, True to Nature acoustics, marked by superb tonal accuracy, thrilling dynamics, impactful bass, transparent midrange, pinpoint imaging, and exquisite detail. Each speaker is scientifically measured, tested and fine-tuned by a team of highly regarded acoustic specialists under the direction of PSB Founder and Chief Acoustic Designer, Paul Barton. Design and built with 50 years of experience, the Synchrony series is the clearest expression of PSB’s design philosophy to date.

Sennheiser announces the RS 120-W

Sennheiser’s TV Listening portfolio is being enhanced with a powerful addition. The RS 120-W wireless on-ear headphones offer no less than three different sound modes for a customised listening experience, working with advanced LE audio transmission for crystal-clear and undistorted sound powered by Bluetooth. In combination with the usual long-lasting battery life and an improved design for optimal comfort while wearing, the new Sennheiser headphones serve as the ideal foundation for binge-worthy TV sessions.

”High-quality sound and an engaging televisual experience are essential for the Sennheiser brand,” said Irene Strüber, Sennheiser Product Manager TV Listening. “The new RS 120-W is designed to make the sound experience even more individual and versatile. Users can tailor their sound settings according to their preferences, whether they like more bass or speech clarity. A pair of headphones should not be limited to one type of entertainment. That’s exactly the philosophy we’re putting into practice with the RS 120-W.”

Designed for high-quality entertainment
Depending on the preferred type of entertainment, users can choose between ‘Speech’, ‘Music’ and ‘Neutral’ sound modes to adjust the soundscape to their respective requirements. To ensure a detailed, balanced, and undistorted sound, the RS 120-W uses advanced LE audio, which enables audio streaming via Bluetooth® Low Energy transmission technology. LE audio includes a new high-quality LC3 audio codec. This technology not only convinces listeners through its delivery of crystal-clear audio, but also offers a very low latency, which guarantees immersive entertainment sessions.

Meanwhile, the enhanced design of the RS 120-W makes controls even more intuitive. For example, users can now adjust the volume independently of the TV by using the control on the headphones’ ear cup. The comfortable on-ear design with light ear pads and a soft headband pressure contributes to the RS 120-W’s all-day wearing comfort, making it ideal for extended periods of TV viewing.

Enjoying the sound of Sennheiser together
With a battery life up to 20 hours and wireless transmission in a range of 60 meters, the RS 120-W also provides the technical foundation for unlimited entertainment sessions. As usual, the transmitter included in the scope of delivery serves as a charging station and transmission centre in one. Meanwhile, the new ‘Broadcast Mode’ feature can pair the transmitter with multiple sets of headphones, so that the breath taking sound can be enjoyed by several people at the same time. Those who like it loud can increase the volume up to 100 dB, without having a negative impact on their surroundings.

Pricing and availability
The Sennheiser RS 120-W will be available for pre order on 16th August and will go on sale on 30th August with an RRP of £119.99 / €129.90.

H3D & Dynamic Ear Company in ear auto modelling solution

Dynamic Ear Company (DEC) and Hearables3D (H3D) has announced their collaboration for the implementation of DEC acoustic filter and custom ear mould canal design rules into H3D AutoDesign AI for the modelling of custom-fitted hearing protection solutions. The automatic modelling of the mould and canal reduces a lab’s reliance on the availability of highly-trained CAD modelers thereby reducing CAD lead times whilst ensuring the design consistency required for certified hearing protection.

DEC approved custom ear mould canal designs are accessible in H3D’s automated CAD system, AutoDesign. AutoDesign, the first commercially available automated design software for the modelling of custom in ear moulds, is able to model custom hearing protection specifically for DEC acoustic filters.

The collaboration makes it easier than ever for companies entering the hearing protection market to produce optimised custom fit hearing protection for DEC acoustic filters. Simply upload a digitised ear impression to the AutoDesign servers and within 90 seconds receive a 3D print-ready file, ready to use DEC’s range of flat attenuating MEMBRANE filters, impulse filters for shooting and industry and industrial MESH filters.

“Partnering with H3D was a great opportunity for DEC. Implementation of our canal design allows our range of high-performance passive filters in custom moulded hearing protection to be made available anywhere in the world, even where skilled CAD modellers are unavailable.”, said Steve Collicott Business Development Director of DEC. “The process of modelling, ensuring the canal in custom hearing protection is dimensionally correct, with suitable acoustic mass, has been de-skilled. This is the first step in making customised hearing protection available to all.” “We are very excited to partner with DEC”, says Iain Mcleod, CEO of Hearables 3D. “Labs can automatically design custom-fit products with DEC filter technology in our AutoDesign AI system, which has now been approved by the DEC engineering team. As two companies that strongly believe in hearing conservation, we are pleased to automate the CAD process in making custom fitted hearing protection.” .

About Dynamic Ear Company (DEC)

Based in Delft, The Netherlands Dynamic Ear Company (a division of Sonova) develops and manufactures innovative hearing protection and sound management solutions for musicians, industry, military and leisure and almost every application where loud sounds can cause permanent hearing damage.

DEC filters change the industry of modern hearing protection by providing unprecedented ‘flat attenuation’’. This allows users to hear sounds in a natural but still a safe way.

DEC products include flat attenuation filters, industrial filters, ambient filter for hearables; automatic variable mechatronic filters, balanced armature earphones and accessories.

The DEC products are available through our worldwide network of manufacturers of custom hearing protection, private label brands distributors, audiologists, resellers and online market places.
