Meta partners with Puma to launch new Avatar outfits

Meta has announced some improvements to Meta Avatars that will help freshen up your look just in time for spring. They are adding a handful of new avatar body shapes to help you better express yourself — especially if expressing yourself means dancing along to “Hips Don’t Lie.” Meta also have partnered with PUMA to bring seven outfits to the Meta Avatars Store.

And they are  continuing to make your avatar look better in smaller and subtler ways as well, because those details help your personality shine through. Literally shine, as they are adding a bit more sparkle to your eyes, brushing some volume into your hair and making clothes look more realistic and textured. You’ll see these changes when you use your avatar outside of virtual reality (VR).

Read more below on what to expect.

Introducing New Body Shapes

Everybody’s different, and every body’s different. Until now, though, the body shape options available when creating your avatar were all pretty similar. Maybe a little rectangular.

We created them as a good jumping-off point when we launched this iteration of Avatars back in 2021. But, we’ve heard feedback that not all of you can see yourselves in the current options.

So we’re adding more choices, simple as that. Starting this month, you’ll be able to choose from a wider range of body shape options, including two curvier body shapes. We’re refining some of our existing options to help differentiate them as well.

Self-expression and representation matter — it’s what makes your avatar feel like you — and we’ll continue adding more options over time, working toward a future where everyone can create an avatar they love.

New PUMA Looks

Last year we introduced the Meta Avatars Store, a one-stop shop for customizing your avatar across Facebook, Messenger, Instagram and in VR. Since launch, we’ve brought in outfits from some of the world’s leading fashion, sports, and lifestyle brands — including Madhappy, the NBA, Prada, and Thom Browne.

Add PUMA to the list. We’ve partnered with the sports brand to offer seven of its lifestyle looks starting May 1.

Hair and Clothing Textures

Lastly, we’ve overhauled how your avatar’s hair, clothing and eyes appear in stickers, profile pictures, cover photos and more.

Sparing you the nitty-gritty technical breakdown, we’ve added additional detail and realism to both hair and clothing — meaning whether you’re rocking a clean fade and suit or bedhead and sweats, your avatar should pop a little better than before. Solid glow-up, right? We’ve also tweaked our lighting model to add a little more of a reflective gleam to your eyes, making them sparkle and bring your personality to life.

On a personal note, it’s been a wonderful opportunity to return to my native Dublin to establish a new home for G2’s EMEA operations. I’m appreciative to the IDA for their continued partnership as we look to effectively scale our presence in the region.”

With the advent of online casinos, sports betting sites, and cryptocurrency-enabled gambling hubs offering gamers unprecedented entertainment options and rewards, digital technologies are undoubtedly driving tremendous changes to one of the oldest industries. Here’s a comprehensive overview of how digital technologies revolutionize the gambling industry.

1. Diversification of Payment Methods

Thanks to advances in digital technologies, players now have various payment methods at their fingertips. This diversification of payment methods has made it easier for players to manage their accounts, giving them more choice and flexibility.

With the rise of digital technologies and the internet, players can now indulge in their favorite games from virtually anywhere in the world. One of the key benefits of online gambling is the convenience factor – players no longer have to travel to a physical location to enjoy their favorite games.

Instead, they can log on from their homes and access a huge array of games and betting options. Whether you’re a seasoned gambler or a casual player, online gambling has revolutionized the industry and opened up new opportunities for players everywhere.

3. Growth of Mobile Gambling

Thanks to the proliferation of smartphones and tablets, the betting industry has shifted gears from traditional brick-and-mortar establishments to the digital realm. The rise of mobile gambling has empowered people to place wagers anywhere, anytime, on any game or sporting event they fancy.

Whether commuting to work, waiting in line for groceries, or lounging at home, you can access an extensive range of betting options at your fingertips. The days of physically visiting a casino or bookmaker to place a bet are long gone. With mobile gambling, the world of betting has opened up for everyone, offering a level of convenience and flexibility that was unimaginable just a few years ago.

Sports betting has been synonymous with brick-and-mortar bookmakers. However, an explosion in digital technologies means people can now place bets on sporting activities worldwide. With just a few clicks on their mobile devices, sports enthusiasts can place bets in real time and watch the game unfold live.

With the use of online platforms for gambling, countries have different laws and regulations, making it complex and ever-changing for operators. 5 tips to counteract CVS — Computer Vision Syndrome

If we had to choose a single image that represents our lifestyles in this century, we would most certainly choose one in which smartphones or computers play a starring role. “On average,” says Jakub Odcházel, head optician at Lentiamo.ie, “we spend around 7 hours in front of a screen every day, a significant amount of time that puts strain on our eyes. Unfortunately, we often aren’t able to reduce this figure by much, if at all.”

As a result of prolonged screen use, symptoms that are collectively referred to as Computer Vision Syndrome, or CVS, are becoming increasingly prevalent. Among the most common symptoms are:

  • Decreased or blurred vision
  • Burning or excessive tearing
  • Increased sensitivity to light
  • Headaches
  • Backaches and neck stiffness

What can be done to prevent these discomforts?

The opticians and optometrists at Lentiamo offer five practices to implement into your routine that can reduce the chances of suffering during screen time.

1) Choose high-performance monitors and position them correctly

Not only should they be adequately sized and offer good resolution (24’’ with a resolution of 1920×1200), computer screens must also be positioned so as not to harm the neck, back or eyes. The ideal distance between a user and monitor should be between 50 and 80 centimetres. Ideally, the top of the screen should be positioned in line with the eyes.

2) Reduce glare

Light reflected off a screen can force your eyes to work harder and can cause increased sensitivity. Insufficient contrast between letters and background colours can also have the same effect. To combat glare, position your monitor to avoid glare, reduce any harsh environmental lighting, choose low-watt bulbs for desk lamps, and even consider an anti-glare filter for your screen.

3) Take small breaks

To limit fatigue, take a break every 20 minutes to look away from your monitor and focus on something at least 20 feet (about six metres) away for at least 20 seconds. This simple exercise won’t greatly impact your workflow and will give your eyes a chance to rest.

4) Moisturise your eyes

We tend to blink less frequently when using screens. As a result, the chance of developing dry eye syndrome increases. To mitigate this effect, it’s recommended to use eye drops as well as ensure your environment has adequate moisture levels in the air, particularly during sleep.

5) Use glasses or contact lenses with a blue light filter

Computer glasses are designed with a specialised filter to minimise the impact that blue light from screens has on our eyes. They’ve been shown to effectively reduce eye fatigue and improve visual focus, comfort and contrast. As a result, you can maintain higher levels of concentration throughout the day. Computer glasses may even have a positive impact on sleep quality. Additionally, some contact lenses feature Transitions Light Intelligent technology that quickly adapts to changes in light, reducing stress on your eyes when transitioning between natural and artificial lighting. These lens models also provide protection against blue light emitted by computers and smartphones, as well as offer UV protection.

How Has Technology Changed Men’s Fashion?

Almost every business in the world, including the fashion industry, has been impacted by technology. It was just like fashion. Although some could claim that technology hasn’t directly impacted the fashion business, the facts are clear.

For a long time, everyone in the fashion industry can tell you how technology has changed business. Our daily lives have changed significantly due to technology and how we dress.

We never imagined how much the fashion business would change due to technological advancements. Technology has significantly impacted how men’s fashion has changed, affecting everything from the materials used in clothing to how we buy items.

This article will examine the changes technology has brought about in men’s fashion.

Some factors that technology change men’s fashion

3D Printing

Men’s fashion has been changed by 3D design and printing. Designers may now use 3D modeling software to develop clothing and accessories that can be printed using 3D printers.

More innovation and customization are possible in fashion design because of this technology. For instance, designers may produce complex textures and patterns that require more than conventional techniques.

Social Media

Social media platforms have developed into effective tools for influencing men’s fashion. Celebrities, fashion influencers, and bloggers have built large social media followings by expressing their sense of style and sense of fashion.

Because of this, they now have a big say in the fashion trends for males. They frequently publish images of their ensembles, offer style tips, and advertise new companies and goods. Thanks to social media sites, men now have an easier time learning about new fashion trends and designs.

People may stay up with the most recent fashion trends by following their favorite blogs and influencers. As a result, the fashion business has become more accessible to everyone with a distinctive sense of style and a social media account.

E-commerce

The way individuals purchase clothing has changed as a result of e-commerce. Men may shop for clothing online at any time and from any location. Thanks to this, men may now easily access garments from various brands and designers.

E-commerce is now becoming one biggest business online. Don’t worry about where you are, you need one click, and you will get any product immediately. If you have no time and want to shop, you can do it within a few minutes with everything you can find online.

Virtual Reality

The way men buy clothes has been changed by virtual reality. Men may see how the clothing will appear on them in virtual reality before making a purchase. Men may now customize their clothing to suit their interests thanks to technology.

Wearable Technology

Wearable technology has grown in popularity recently because it gives consumers access to features beyond timekeeping and step tracking.

For instance, fitness trackers and smartwatches may monitor heart rate and sleep habits and deliver alerts for texts and phone calls.

E-Cigarettes

Vapes, commonly called e-cigarettes, have become a common trend in men’s fashion, especially among younger generations. E-cigarettes use cutting-edge technology to produce a smokeless and frequently odorless substitute for traditional tobacco use.

Vaping devices are now offered in various shapes, hues, and fashions, making them a well-liked accessory among guys. One of the best examples is the 510 thread battery vape pen

Other new products such as Mushroom Gummies are now also gaining traction.

Technology Side Effects That Changing Men’s Fashion

Technology has positively impacted men’s fashion, but there have also been some negative side effects. Here are some examples:

  • Fast Fashion
  • Lack of Personal Connection
  • Cybersecurity Risks
  • Negative Body Image
  • Addiction to Technology

Technology has many advantages, but there are also disadvantages of technology that are miss use of technology. Technology makes human life easy and also has side effects on human life.

The convenience and anonymity of online purchasing and social media marketing contribute to the prevalence of drug addiction in modern society.

Conclusion

Men’s fashion has changed greatly because of technology. Several variables have influenced this transformation, including advanced materials, social networking, e-commerce, virtual reality, 3D printing, and wearable technologies.

We may expect additional changes in men’s fashion as technology improves. Men’s fashion has benefited greatly from technology, but there are also drawbacks to keep in mind.

These negative effects include fast fashion, a lack of a personal connection to clothing, cybersecurity dangers, a poor body image, and technological addiction.

PSB Announces the M4U 9 and M4U TWM Headphones

PSB Speakers, one of the first premium hi-fi loudspeaker brands to enter the headphone market over 10 years ago, announces all-new additions to their high-performance M4U line, the M4U 9 and M4U TWM, on the heels of releasing a new espresso brown finish of the M4U 8 MKIIs earlier this year. The headphones implement sound personalisation options through a partnership with Audiodo Personal Sound™ along with PSB’s proprietary RoomFeel™ technology. The next-generation M4U 9 and M4U TWM designs feature improved engineering, better componentry and overall stunning presentation of musical detail. The new wireless over-ear and in-ear headphones will be available for demo at the AXPONA Audio Expo from April 14-16, 2023, with retail availability across PSB sales channels starting June 2023 with the following MSRP: (M4U 9) US$499 / CA$699 / €549 / £449 and (M4U TWM) US$199 / CA$299 / €229 / £199.

M4U 9 – Premium Wireless ANC Headphones

Improving on three generations of award-winning headphone design, the M4U 9 is crafted with premium materials, adaptive audio technologies and intelligent features, bringing the ultimate in mobile luxe listening. The wireless active noise cancelling over-ear headphones implement new graphene-infused drivers which improve on damping, stiffness and efficiency to reveal PSB’s “true-to-nature” sonic signature, more crisp and powerful than ever before. aptX™ Adaptive Bluetooth technology enables fast and easy pairing with any device, with support for up to 24-bit high-definition audio. The M4U 9 features all-digital active noise cancelling (ANC) capabilities utilising 4 digital MEMS microphones to decrease audio conversion errors in audio processing for pure noise-free listening, while two additional mics for cVc™ (clear voice capture) technology deliver crystal clear call quality. A three-position mode switch on the M4U 9 allows users to choose between ANC with RoomFeel, Active with RoomFeel or a Passive mode. Gyro-suspended, fabric and leatherette earpads tilted at 15 degrees provide excellent seal and ergonomic comfort for an extended listening time of up to 25 hours in Active Mode.

M4U TWM – True Wireless Micro Planar Earphones

The M4U TWM earbuds leverage powerful Magneto-Static technology in a Hybrid Planar dual driver design, utilising the same technology found in high-end magneto loudspeakers and fitting them into remarkably compact earbuds. Dedicated transducers, one for high frequencies and one for low frequencies work together to make the in-ear listening experience truly pristine, reproducing sound with crisp highs, natural midrange and deep lush bass. Enhanced aptX™ Adaptive Bluetooth technology keeps everything in sync from movies to games with dynamic low latency and an adaptive bit rate. Convenient features like hard click buttons on both earphones make music control and voice calls hands-free and intuitive, while a smart USB-C charging case delivers a maximum of 32 hours of extended play time (8 hours out of the case and 3 additional charge cycles in the case).

Sound Optimisation with Audiodo Personal Sound

An integration with Audiodo Personal Sound™ technology is one of the most unique features offered in both wireless headphones. The breakthrough technology uses a non-replicable set of algorithms which allows listeners to calibrate their headphones in a way that accommodates for the listening qualities of their left and right ears independently. After completing a quick and easy hearing assessment accessed through the PSB Headphones app, Audiodo Personal Sound™ maps out a precise and thorough understanding of the listener’s hearing, calculates what changes need to be made based on personal sound perception, and formulates a compensation curve for the listener that can be applied to the overall headphone sound.

Natural RoomFeel™ Tuning

Created to deliver rich and natural sound through headphones, the next generation of PSB’s proprietary RoomFeel technology mimics the experience of listening to a pair of high-quality, full-range speakers properly set up in a good room. Carefully developed using research and expertise around ‘Room Gain’ – the energy and warmth that room boundaries add to the response curve of a flat-measuring loudspeaker, RoomFeel makes the music feel less ‘in the head’ by recreating an open and natural in-room listening experience through the M4U headphones.

PSB Headphones App

All headphone settings, including Audiodo Personal Sound™ tests and Transparency modes are accessed centrally through the PSB Headphones app, a full-featured app that allows users to adjust settings, check battery levels and regularly keep the headphones up-to-date with the latest firmware updates and codes.

Pinergy SolarElectric announces a 13.5 per cent discount on solar installations in advance of Government VAT move

Pinergy SolarElectric, one of Ireland’s fastest growing solar energy businesses, has today welcomed the planned abolition of VAT on solar energy installations, and announced that it will give its residential customers the benefit of the VAT reduction from today with a 13.5 per cent discount on the cost of installations.

This planned move by the Government should see the cost of installing solar panels reduced by as much as €1,000, based on the cost of an average installation falling from €9,000 to €8,000. It is expected that the VAT will be formally removed from domestic and public building installations in early July, as part of the Spring Finance Bill.

Commenting on these latest developments, Ronan Power, newly appointed CEO at Pinergy SolarElectric said: “We very much welcome the Government’s plans to abolish VAT on domestic solar installations, representing a major positive step in Government policy around meeting our climate action targets as part of the energy transition. This is a very positive move. From today, we are delighted to announce that our customers will be able to benefit from the reduction in VAT with a 13.5 per cent discount on installations. Our discount will offset the VAT costs for our customers until they are removed by the Government, later in the summer.”

He added: “We expect that the Government’s abolition of VAT for solar installations will go some way towards encouraging more homeowners to consider investing in solar energy this year and into the future. We urge homeowners to consider Solar Energy now to make sure they can maximise their generation of electricity in their homes in the key months of May and June when solar generation is at its peak. Solar Panels have a lifespan of over 25 years and we expect the payback to reduce to about 5 years with this latest cost reduction.

“Together with the Clean Export Guarantee payments from suppliers like Pinergy and generous SEAI grants, there has never been a better time to consider solar energy for your property.”

The new 13.5 per cent discount on domestic Solar Energy installations are subject to a successful site survey which is a free and no obligation service from Pinergy SolarElectric.  Pinergy SolarElectric will continue to charge VAT on domestic installations until the effective date of the reduction of VAT with the 13.5 per cent discount on installations meaning homeowners will get the benefit of the VAT reduction from today.
