To help engineers working in production and assembly lines – or those handling test challenges that require measurements of tensile/compressive forces in confined spaces – HBK has released is U93A, an easy to mount miniature force sensor with the option of digital and analogue interfaces.
The U93A is available as traditional passive mV/V sensor or users can order the force transducer with different hardwired amplifier modules. Models with 0–10V or 4–20 mA are available, as well as a digital module with IO–Link interface.
IO–Link is an established and standardised interface, allowing the integration of HBK force sensors into any PLC system in a cost effective and time saving manner. As with all HBK smart sensors, the IO–Link version comes with many beneficial features such as the sensor health warning, which enables the sensor to compare conditions concerning temperature and force introduced within the limits of the sensor. When limits are exceeded, the sensor sends a warning to prevent failure. Limit switches, filter or digital outputs are included as well, helping to solve typical challenges in the world of production and assembly.
Transducer Electronic Data Sheet (TEDS) and various practical cable lengths are also an option, as well ready-mounted plugs for HBK instruments. This allows users to easily expand their testing capabilities – and the configurations offered means the sensor can also be integrated as a part of a machine or in an assembly line.
The robust sensor is IP68 rated, rust-free, has cables resistant to most operating substances (oils, cleaning agents, etc), and is suitable for use in drag chains, making it ideal for laboratory based tests and tough environments, such vehicle engines, outside measurements or moving machinery parts.
This miniature sensor has been tested in an electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) laboratory according to IEC standards, shock and vibration test – and is also compliant with international standards. Despite its specialised, compact construction, it remains extremely resistant to lateral forces and bending moments.
U93A is the successor of the established U93, with many improvements: it operates to HBK accuracy class 0.2, instead of the previous 0.5, providing the user with precision measurements. It has excellent temperature characteristics, low hysteresis and a small linearity error.
Today, Shure has introduced a new era of vocal precision: the Nexadyne dynamic microphone platform with Shure Revonic Dual Transducer Technology.
Available now in cardioid and supercardioid polar patterns, Nexadyne vocal microphones achieve state-of-the-art polar pattern consistency, unparalleled noise reduction, and best-in-class professional touring performance, so sound engineers and performers can confidently provide front-row vocal clarity to every corner of the venue, every time.
“Nexadyne is the next chapter of Shure’s storied history as the leader and innovator in dynamic microphone technology,” shared Nick Wood, Senior Director, Professional Audio Products, at Shure. “With built-in acoustic signal processing, the Nexadyne platform ushers in a new era of modern live performance that engineers and vocalists can trust on stage night after night.”
VIVID, EFFORTLESS CLARITY WITH REVONIC™ TECHNOLOGY
To deliver these revolutionary benefits, the Nexadyne platform is built on Shure’s patented, groundbreaking Revonic Dual Transducer Technology. This meticulously implemented technology minimises the amount of time and effort required by sound engineers to make performers’ live vocals sound exceptional and cut through the mix.
Most dynamic microphones are designed with only one transducer, the part of the microphone that converts sound into an electrical signal. Breaking from the mould, Shure’s innovative Revonic Technology implements two precisely matched transducers.
These transducers work together to provide a greater range of acoustic optimisation, maximising specific frequencies and minimising unwanted noise, especially handling noise and mechanical vibration. This built-in signal processing delivers a stronger output than traditional single transducer designs, while subsequently removing the need for a traditional pneumatic shock mount and time-consuming, corrective audio editing.
BUILT-IN RELIABILITY WITHOUT COMPROMISE
Implementing the benefits of perfectly matched transducers requires thorough attention to detail throughout the manufacturing process. By maintaining and surpassing the highest, stage-tested standards for every Nexadyne microphone, Shure has guaranteed optimum manufacturability for consistent performance.
As the leader in handheld microphones and a pioneer in dynamic microphone technology, Shure continues to set the standard for vocal reproduction and industry-leading build quality with the introduction of Nexadyne and Revonic Technology.
EMPOWERING A NEW ERA OF PRECISION FOR VOCALISTS AND SOUND ENGINEERS
With Nexadyne premium vocal microphones, performers and sound engineers can be confident the entire audience will hear an acoustically honest representation of their performance with vivid clarity.
Vocalists using Nexadyne vocal microphones will immediately experience greater clarity and range of detail, which enables more control of vocal nuance and less time either holding back or pushing the voice too hard, no matter the size of the venue.
For engineers, Nexadyne vocal microphones achieve improved signal quality, delivering a clearer source signal to work with during the mixing process. The higher output of the microphone ensures engineers can accurately reproduce and balance the performer’s vocals in the overall mix with significantly less corrective audio processing.
PRICING AND AVAILABILITY
Nexadyne dynamic vocal XLR microphones and wireless capsules are available now for £329 / €379 / $299 (US) in both cardioid (NXN8/C) and supercardioid (NXN8/S) polar patterns on Shure.com and at select retailers. Nexadyne capsules will be available bundled with Shure’s industry-leading digital wireless ecosystems starting this summer, including Axient Digital, ULX-D, QLX-D, andSLX-D.
Bumble, the women-first dating app, today unveiled an updated brand identity and app design, and launched a suite of new features, including more ways to Make The First Move, marking a new chapter in Bumble’s evolution.
Bumble launched in 2014, giving women more control of their dating lives by flipping traditional gender roles and challenging the antiquated rules of dating. Today, the app is expanding upon its make the first move requirement by introducing choice in how a connection is made with Opening Moves.Additionally, Bumble is making its profile creation quicker and more intentional, expanding its dating intentions and making updates to its compatibility algorithms.
Recent Bumble research* shows women’s experiences have evolved, especially regarding empowerment in online dating. Keeping true to Bumble’s mission, equality remains a priority in relationships with the overwhelming majority* (92%) of women stating it is a top marker in romance. However, how women define equality has evolved with almost 9 in 10* (88%) single women surveyed on the app globally stating that today, equality is about personal choice and autonomy to decide what’s right for you.
After billions of first moves and countless Bumble success stories, Bumble continues to prioritize community-first feedback with solutions that make dating better for women. This builds upon the company’s decade of leadership in addressing issues that impact women online, including banning body shaming and gender-based hate, launching features to combat non-consensual lewd content, and leveraging AI to automatically block spam, scam, and fake profiles. According to research, the majority* of women (60%) surveyed use Bumble because they believe the app delivers a better experience for them.
The Evolution of Make The First Move
Beginning today, women on Bumble have even more choice in how they connect with the launch of Opening Moves. The new feature gives women the option to set a question that their matches can respond to, creating a new way to engage with connections while keeping women in control. Nearly half of women* (46%) surveyed on Bumble shared that having more ways to start a conversation would make their dating app experience even better. Women can use one of Bumble’s recommended Opening Moves, or craft their own. For non-binary and same-gender connections, either person can set and respond to an Opening Move.
“We have always believed that when you make dating better for women, you make it better for everyone. In listening to our community, many have shared their exhaustion with the current online dating experience, and for some, that includes making the first move. We’re also hearing from women that empowerment today is not only about control but it’s also about agency, and we’re excited to offer more choice in how women make the first move with our new Opening Moves feature,” said Lidiane Jones, CEO of Bumble.“We want to evolve with our community, shifting from a fixed approach to giving women more options in how they engage.”
“Bumble has been leading in addressing the challenges of online spaces, introducing industry-first features like Private Detector™ to identify unsolicited lewd images, AI and machine learning to identify scams and spam, and comprehensive Community Guidelines. This latest launch reflects the first step in our continued commitment to making dating better for women, creating space for people to establish relationship dynamics that work for them,” Jones continued.
During testing, Bumble found that Opening Moves improved meaningful conversations on the app by increasing chat initiation and reply rates, as well as lengthening time spent in conversation.
Expanded Compatibility and Stronger Curation
Relationships look different for everyone, but more than 2 in 3* (68%) of women surveyed stated that they struggle with people not being upfront about their dating intentions. Bumble’s data*** also shows that women want to learn more about a potential match before they connect, with nearly 80% swiping right once they have viewed the entire profile.
To help people better communicate what they are looking for now, not just in the future, the app has updated its Dating Intentions badges to include everything from ‘fun, casual dates’ and ‘intimacy without commitment’ to a ‘life partner’ and ‘ethical non-monogamy.’ People on Bumble can now also select up to two dating intentions to be shown on their profile. More than 3 in 4* (77%) women surveyed globally on Bumble said knowing someone’s dating intentions is one of the most important things when online dating.
To help people find compatible matches even faster, common interests and shared top musical artists are now highlighted at the top of profiles to quickly and easily identify commonalities with a potential match. Bumble also increased the minimum number of photos required on a profile and made advancements to its For You algorithm, which is a daily set of four curated, relevant profiles based on your preferences and past matches.
A New Look and Feel
To mark the start of a new chapter, Bumble is also unveiling an updated brand identity including a new logo, bolder fonts, and refreshed colors and illustrations. The new design is a reflection of the company’s branding evolution, emphasizing their ongoing dedication to enhancing member experiences on the app. Bumble’s data shows that 3 in 4* (75%) women say the look and feel of a dating app is important to their overall experience and with 65% that the visual identity of a dating app can make it easier to use.
Led in-house by Bumble’s Creative Studio, the new design will be part of a global marketing campaign launching across more than 10 countries, which includes new content showcasing the lengths women may go when faced with online dating fatigue.

In a move that has delighted fans and gamers alike, the classic multiplayer combat game “Infantry Online” originally launched in 1999 by Sony Online Entertainment, has made a triumphant return to the gaming scene under the new moniker “Free Infantry” After a long hiatus and much anticipation, the game debuted on Steam last week, offering both old fans and newcomers a chance to dive into what has been noted as the world’s first massive multiplayer online isometric shooter.
Infantry was initially first released in the late ‘90s by the team behind space MMO Subspace. In 2001, Infantry’s unique MMO gameplay supported over 140,000 gamers, an unprecedented figure which undoubtedly placed it way ahead of its time. But it was not without financial burden. In fact, readers might remember that in 2020, the players requested a license agreement with Daybreak akin to the one allowing the operation of EverQuest’s fan-led Project 1999.
“Infantry Online” enjoyed a robust following during its initial run, capturing the hearts of gamers with its engaging, fast-paced tactical gameplay. The game’s operation ceased in 2012, leaving a dedicated fan base clamoring for its return. Their persistence paid off when the community revived the game on a rogue server, operating under a license agreement similar to that of the fan-led “Project 1999,” a legacy server for the classic MMORPG “EverQuest.”
Now rebranded as “Free Infantry,” the game has been relaunched and remastered, still maintaining its original charm and challenging gameplay. Available for free on Steam without any microtransactions, “FreeInfantry” offers a variety of gameplay options including standard skirmish, capture-the-flag, and cooperative modes against CPU-controlled adversaries. Players can also indulge in player-based modes that allow for class customization, weapon upgrades, and innovative base-building tactics.
The Steam launch has attracted considerable attention, drawing many long-time fans who have expressed their excitement and approval of the game’s revival. Reviews on Steam reflect a deep appreciation for the game’s return, with one player noting, “Awesome game, played this back in 2002-2012 when the servers shut down. Great to see it back again and on Steam! Give it a try, it’s unique and a very fun shooter once you get the hang of it.” Another reviewer expressed a heartfelt connection to the game, saying, “The game that managed to keep my attention and heart for 25 years is now easily accessible to everybody.”
“FreeInfantry” not only marks a significant return to form for a beloved classic but also introduces a new generation of gamers to a pioneering format in the realm of online multiplayer shooters. With its nostalgic appeal and updated features, “FreeInfantry” promises to capture the imagination and competitive spirit of both veteran gamers and those new to the franchise.
