Nokia N1 tablet is heading to the UK and Ireland. NOT #Nokia #N1 #Tablet

UPDATE – TechRadar reports its fake Nokia has confirmed to TechRadar that the demo online shop with its branding is in no way connected to itself, and it has no plans to launch the Nokia N1 tablet in any new countries yet. 

The Nokia N1 tablet has been a huge hit but very hard to get hold of but now that is about to change for Ireland and UK fans who have being trying to get the tablet.

NokiaShop UK will be offering the slate, but you can only register your interest for now. Once it becomes available for order, you will be able to purchase one. Until now the Nokia N1 was available exclusively in China in Taiwan since the beginning of 2015.

The company behind NokiaShop isn’t Nokia itself, but a third-party firm called Colourful (2018) Limited.So if its the real deal we dont know for 100% Still, they promise official support and warranty for the Nokia N1. This is hardly surprising and the Nokia N1 slate isn’t made by Nokia either, it’s a Foxconn creation.The tablet is priced at £219/€314  which is a tad high and you will be able to order it in the coming weeks . It’s yet to be confirmed if this is the original or a China import.. Keep that in mind.

Viber for Android and iOS gets a big update,Windows Phone left out. #Viber

Viber has got a notable update today on the Android and iOS platforms however Windows Phone has been left out in which the app still lags behind in general and performance so when it will get updated is anyone’s guess and nothing new for Windows Phone in General when it comes to updates with official apps.The update also brings more payment options to the app, making it even easier to purchase credit for using the app..

 

Other changes included in the app is animated stickers which seems to be quite a joy to hear for some,age dependent this is fine but as a user I find them annoying at times but that’s just my opinion..

  • Increased sharing functions: Users can now share phonebook contact details as a Viber message. Recipients can save the contact info directly to their phone’s contact list through the app.
  • Rich links: When a user shares a URL, Viber will automatically create a message bubble with a thumbnail image from the site they are sharing.
  • Easier video calling: Users can now initiate a video call directly from their contact’s profile or from their recent calls list.
  • Animated stickers: With over 500 sticker packs to choose from, Viber just made its library of stickers better with the ability to send live motion stickers through chat.

The spammers are back again,this time its WhatsApp and prior to this its been Viber which is still an ongoing issue.These guys do not give up,you can of course block the number but it will not stop them..Recently Dunnes stores also had a similar problem only this time it was SMS,  Between SMS and messaging apps this is a low cost exercise for there spammers…

 

 

The new deal here is www/555daily/com in which a message arrived today kindly adding me to its contacts too.Included are the details of numbers and what is involved,by no means is this relatively new as its happening on Viber too its now starting to do the rounds again and simple common sense is all that is required here .. DO NOT OPEN ANY LINK…. Just delete the message straight away no matter how attractive it looks……. BMW, Audi and Daimler buy Nokia HERE maps. #HERE #Maps #Nokia

There has been much talk of late as to who would buy the mapping business from Nokia but now it looks like its all done,its said that all will have an equal share in the new acquisition.. At the end of June 2015, HERE had 6 454 employees. Nokia plans to report HERE as a discontinued operation from the third quarter of 2015 onwards. HERE will continue to operate as a business of Nokia until the closing of the transaction.

AUDI AG, BMW Group and Daimler AG (the “Consortium”). The transaction values HERE at an enterprise value of EUR 2.8 billion with a normalized level of working capital and is expected to close in the first quarter of 2016, subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals. Upon closing, Nokia estimates that it will receive net proceeds of slightly above EUR 2.5 billion, as the purchaser would be compensated for certain defined liabilities of HERE currently expected to be slightly below EUR 300 million as part of the transaction. Nokia expects to book a gain on the sale and a related release of cumulative foreign exchange translation differences totaling approximately EUR 1 billion as a result of the transaction.

Rajeev Suri, President and Chief Executive Officer of Nokia, said: “With this step we complete the latest stage of Nokia’s transformation. We integrated the former Nokia Siemens Networks, divested our Devices & Services business, and have now reached agreement on a transaction for HERE that we believe is the best path forward for our shareholders, as well as the customers and employees of HERE. Going forward, we will focus on our planned combination with Alcatel-Lucent. Once that is complete, Nokia will be a renewed company, with a world-leading network technology and services business, as well as the licensing and innovation engine of Nokia Technologies.”


“I believe today’s announcement is a very good outcome for HERE, its customers and employees. The new ownership structure of HERE will allow us to accelerate our strategy, further scale our business and fulfill our intent to become the leading location cloud company across industries,” said HERE President Sean Fernback.

#Mastercard Extends Partnership with Samsung to Deliver #SamsungPay in Europe

Good news for some but how long before will we actually have it here in Ireland,As is Apple Pay is now operational in the UK but its capped at a nominal spend of £30 which will probably rise later on in the year,As is NFC has not took off here yet although the technology has been around some years and mobiles coming with NFC chips built in,what will likely kick off the buzz is when Apple Pay launches.Some companies already here have spoken to Apple about Apple pay but nothing has been set in concrete yet as when it actually launches.

Samsung Pay is scheduled to launch in the U.S. and South Korea later this summer and Samsung is currently working with banks and partners to bring the payment service to Europe.

MasterCard and Samsung Electronics announced they are extending their global partnership leveraging the MasterCard Digital Enablement Service (MDES) to deliver Samsung Pay in Europe.  Samsung Pay is a mobile payment service that will enable consumers to use their Samsung flagship mobile devices to make every day in-store purchases at contactless and mag stripe terminals leveraging NFC and MST technologies. Samsung and MasterCard will together roll out Samsung Pay throughout Europe. Card issuers will be able to connect to the MDES platform and activate the Samsung Pay service upon launch. Cardholders from participating issuers can activate their credit, debit, reloadable prepaid and small business cards in the Samsung Pay service and use their mobile devices to make everyday purchases.

“With the continued global growth and reliance on connected mobile devices, we are delighted to expand our relationship with Samsung by extending the reach of Samsung Pay and MDES to cardholders in Europe.  Europeans have been leading the way in the adoption of new ways to shop, buy and make a payment. Samsung however are loosing sales mostly due to the high cost of new devices such as the S6 and S6 Edge and are now looking to lower prices which would not only be a wise move but would be the right move with the fierce competition out there from other manufacturers.

KFC is said to launch a bucket that can print photos from it to celebrate their 60th anniversary in Canada,The “Memories Bucket” as its dubbed doubles as a Bluetooth photo printer, which connects to your phone wirelessly to print pictures,some will find this interesting especially food loves that  upload to Instagram everything they eat,it dos not look like it will be a worldwide thing but rather a limited edition affair.

Microsoft dishes out free 90-day trial for Windows 10. #Microsoft #Windows10 #Enterprise

As we all know Windows 10 was rolled out yesterday and reports so far have been mixed but mostly good,so far im finding it fine for my needs and nothing to complain about bar the apps and Twitter ..

There is still people though who do not use Windows and Microsoft want those people by the looks of it and are now offering a free 90 day trial of the OS. Sounds good ???

It is only the Enterprise Edition though that is up for grabs for the 3 months this would be more for the Corporate customer which means you will be missing goodies such as Cortana,Mail and People and the App store,you can however download files for this..

Facebook now allows everyone in Europe to add a legacy contact #Facebook #SocialMedia

What happens to your social media when you die ? Many people often wonder this but social media is something thats talked about most and in recent times digital legacy companies are on the rise to allow users to suggest people to manage your Facebook or Twitter accounts for example..Facebook did however introduce this option to add a legacy contact some months ago but was only for users in the USA,now its for everyone in Europe.

 

 

What is a legacy contact?

A legacy contact is someone you choose to look after your account if it’s memorialized. Once your account is memorialized, your legacy contact will have the option to do things like:

  • Write a pinned post for your profile (ex: to share a final message on your behalf or provide information about a memorial service)
  • Respond to new friend requests (ex: old friends or family members who weren’t yet on Facebook)
  • Update your profile picture and cover photo

You also have the option to allow your legacy contact to download a copy of what you’ve shared on Facebook, and we may add additional capabilities for legacy contacts in the future.

Your legacy contact can’t:

  • Log into your account
  • Remove or change past posts, photos and other things shared on your Timeline
  • Read messages you’ve sent to other friends
    Remove any of your friends
