Just Eat, Ireland’s leading food ordering and delivery service, today confirmed that drone delivery will now be available to customers in Oranmore, Co. Galway. Powered by Manna, the world’s first aviation-grade B2B drone delivery ‘as-a-service’ platform, and served-up in partnership with Camile Thai, the drone takeaway delivery service is set to go live for the first time ever on the Just Eat app from today, also a first for the Just Eat Takeaway.com Group.
Dropped straight to the designated delivery point in under 3-minutes, this aerial twist on the traditional Just Eat takeaway experience gives customers in Oranmore a reason to look-up while they’re locked-down as Just Eat deliveries take to the skies. Customers will select their dishes on the dedicated Camile Thai drone delivery menu page on the Just Eat app, which will be available from 4pm– 8pm, Thursday – Sunday*.
The introduction of this innovative delivery technology will be a first for the Just Eat Takeaway.com platform, as the company continues to expand delivery options to meet growing customer demand. Commenting on the launch of this new drone delivery option, Just Eat Managing Director Amanda Roche-Kelly said: “We’re thrilled to see this exciting partnership with Manna get off the ground and delighted that our Camile Thai customers in Oranmore will be the first to enjoy this new delivery option right to their door. It’s a real success story for technology in the takeaway food industry in Ireland, one that has continued to show its resilience and innovation in the face of all the challenges it has experienced over the past year.”
“We were all geared up to pilot Just Eat’s takeaway food delivery service in early 2020, but we put this on hold and focused all of our efforts on supporting our restaurant partners. While the road ahead will present its own unique challenges, Manna Drone Delivery ‘as-a-service’ will transform the business of food delivery as we know it, so we’re really proud to be the world’s first online food platform providing this option to our customers in partnership with Manna.”
Commenting on future plans for the expansion of drone takeaway food deliveries in Ireland, Ms Roche-Kelly continued; “As a business we are always working to introduce innovative new technologies that will support our partners’ efforts to meet our customers’ needs, so we’re hopeful that this partnership with Manna will give us the opportunity to give more customers the option of drone takeaway food delivery over the coming months.”
Bobby Healy, CEO & Founder of Manna went on to say; “Drone delivery is now a welcome part of everyday life for the people in Oranmore. We introduced the service to the town back in October and have a 98.5% approval rating from our customers of all ages. It’s very encouraging to get such a resounding endorsement from our local retailer partners and residents and we look forward to expanding the service in the coming months through our partnership with Just Eat. Drones are a safe, greener, faster and more private delivery solution and creates jobs for local retailers to boot.”
Brody Sweeney, CEO and founder of Camile Thai closed by saying: “Following a period of live trials, we’re thrilled to be extending the availability of drone delivery to our Just Eat customers and giving them a chance to enjoy healthy, great tasting Thai food 3 minutes after it’s left our kitchen! Throughout our 10 years in the home delivery business, we’ve really recognised the benefits of quick order fulfilment and this technology enables game-changing speed improvements”.
Offering a full range of everyone’s favourite Camile Thai dishes, Just Eat customers in Oranmore will have the option of drone delivery when they place their order from this Thursday 18th February. The service will be available from Thursday-Sunday thereafter, running from 4pm – 8pm, with standard rate delivery charges applied.
