By Beverley Lucas, Event Director at ECOC.. All the way back in September 1995, in Brussels, Belgium, the European Conference on Optical Communications Exhibition (ECOC), first opened its doors to just 100 visitors. Now, 24 years on, the knowledge shared at the event has surged right around the globe and its profile grown considerably.
The annual ECOC Exhibition, taking place alongside the ECOC Conference, has now become the largest optical communications exhibition in Europe, held each September in a different European city and attracting thousands of key decision makers from the world of optical communications. Every year it continues to offer a key meeting place for key figures from across the fibre optic communications technology spectrum.
“ECOC provides an invaluable platform for manufacturers, service providers, and suppliers to come together to gain invaluable access to insights and technical viewpoints on new developments, trends and cutting-edge products,” said Beverley Lucas, Event Director at ECOC. “Last year’s exhibition, ECOC 2018, took place in Rome, Italy, where we were proud to be able to achieve some of our greatest successes to date.”
The ECOC 2018 exhibition hall was completely sold out, featuring 331 exhibiting companies from around the globe. The ever-popular Market Focus featured an array of speakers from international tech giants, Cisco, Huawei, BT, China Mobile, CESNET and many more. The exhibition hall hosted no less than 6,500 executives and senior professionals in addition to its valued technical delegates in the field of research and development.
Visitors to ECOC 2018 had a plethora of cutting-edge topics, including, to name a few, 5G, fibre access, and digital silicon photonics at their disposal.
And now, the exhibition is set to travel to Dublin, Ireland. ECOC 2019 will be held on the 23-25 September, in the Irish capital city at the RDS Venue, located close to the buzzing city centre of Dublin. Visitors will get the exciting chance to immerse themselves in the culture and atmosphere of this beautiful city, and gain industry knowledge amidst the stunning backdrop of the iconic Ha’penny Bridge, amongst a city steeped in culture.
The ECOC exhibition 2019 will give a unique opportunity for attendees and exhibitors alike to build new business relationships, listen to exclusive talks from globally esteemed names in optical communications, share ideas, watch exclusive demonstrations, and ultimately gain new exclusive insight into current and predicted industry developments.
“ECOC is a fantastic opportunity for our internal resources, engineers and scientists to collaborate with their peers and to learn about the next generation of technologies to come,” said Doug Wright, Chief Executive Officer at Source Photonics and ECOC 2018 exhibitor.
