Going to any concert or festival is fun but when it comes to buying items at events it’s not, There is massive queues and only recently I got caught up in one myself and was rather pissed off by the time I got to the till. I have adopted contactless payments a long time ago and it speeds up the process for everyone so if you have not tried it yet and are attending this event now is the time to check it out.

AIB is partnering with Visa to announce that cardholders will be able to leave cash at home and enjoy contactless payments across Electric Picnic. Contactless payments will be available at all the festival’s bars and at many of food vendors and merchandise stalls too, meaning that everyone at Electric Picnic can spend less time worrying about cash and more time enjoying the weekend.

To help drive adoption of cash-free payments, AIB will bring the contactless theme to life via interactive ticket giveaways pre-festival, and a dating-themed contactless experience at the festival itself. Full details of the #EPonTap campaign will be revealed on AIB’s social channels during the build up to the big weekend.

Speaking about the Electric Picnic partnership, Mark Doyle, Group Brands Director at AIB said:

“We are committed to helping customer spend less time manging cash and more time doing what they love, so we’re excited to partner with Visa and Electric Picnic to drive usage of contactless payments at Ireland’s biggest festival. The quick and easy payment solution can be enjoyed by everyone attending Electric Picnic.”

Melvin Benn, Electric Picnic Festival, added:

“We are delighted to be working with AIB and Visa to drive contactless payments across Electric Picnic for the first time.

We constantly strive to improve the experience and convenience of our festival goers, and we think this is the perfect partnership to encompass that ethos.”
