Review – TP-Link AC1750 WiFi Range Extender by @Pat_Seery #WiFi #TPLink

By Pat Seery Guest Reviewer.  Having gotten this to regain some wi-fi signal in the black hole of the house where even 4G signals disappear to somewhere unknown I set about the setup (I chose to do it through WPS) as I need a secure wi-fi connection and no back doors so I’m rather cagey about secure wi-fi (Normally I use wired where possible) but the setup on this is a doddle. Plug it in and press the WPS button on the router then (within 2 mins) press the WPS button on the device itself. Three powerful antennas send AC1750 wi-fi coverage across your home. There is also a setup tutorial here should run into any difficulties.

Whats In The Box

TP-Link AC1750 WiFi Range Extender

Instruction Manual

SPECS

Expand Wi-Fi Network for Ultimate Performance

Expanded 450Mbps on 2.4GHz + 1300Mbps on 5GHz totals 1750Mbps Wi-Fi speeds

Three adjustable external antennas provide optimal Wi-Fi coverage and reliable connections

Gigabit Ethernet port acts as a wireless adapter to connect a wired device to your network at gigabit speed

Intelligent signal light helps to find the best location for optimal Wi-Fi coverage by showing the signal strength

Works with any Wi-Fi router or wireless access point.

It will connect to both 2.4ghz and 5ghz or either one depending on your wifi setup. It will also tell you when its connected by going from a blinking blue circle to a solid blue circle with indicators for wifi and 2.4ghz or 5ghz to let you know what signal you`re on.

I connected through a range of different devices from Samsung phones Smart TV and Game consoles and had no problems whatsoever. I had no problem getting over 100mbs on the device but this is through several walls and from the router which is located up stairs and at the front of the house.

It also has a gigabit wired input which works wonderfully and really gives the kick you need when multiple people are on the same connection.

Review – The Berlin Backpack for the techie that travels, from @toffeecases #tech #travel

We have covered several bags for the tech folk here before and they all serve us well today and always remain part of my kit so to speak for carrying that expensive cargo onboard. Toffee cases have sent us a sample of their range to checkout and this Berlin Backpack is really nice though limited with space so it’s not for all events though this depends on the individual and what their personal set up is.

The bag itself is luxurious all round with leather accents and really a tough bag overall and will easily last you some years with several pockets for storage inside and out you will have enough space to carry the essentials you need, not only is this just for the tech guy but for anyone really who likes style and a robust package overall with nice look to boot.

The bag was smaller than what I am used to but now it has been tried and tested its ideal for the lighter travel or tech event not consisting of much time and so on it fits all the needs you would require for such instances. I am impressed with how well-built this bag is overall due to its solid joints for example on the straps with solid buckles and again feet underneath which keeps it off the ground, it also has a raised compartment inside which again protects the goods from damage should you drop it.

The bag also comes in several colours so you will not be stuck for choice here and they are nice, current and fashionable for those who are a bit fashion conscious..

Check out the video below as I walk around the bag itself and if you have any comments feels free to ask here or on social.

Standing on a noisy train platform? Walking through a busy high street? Cancel out the background sound with Jabra’s unrivalled total noise cancellation solution – with optimised engineering for both the active and passive noise cancellation.

Total noise cancellation solution

The first level consists of the development and design of the earbuds and Jabra EarGels™. The optimal engineering of the mechanical fit and the design of the oval earbuds – developed by Jabra to ensure a better fit in the ear canal – in combination with the eargels for a perfect grip, provide an optimal seal for the passive noise cancellation of ambient sounds. Extensively tested in our sound lab, the eargels help improve the quality of your listening experience – not only adding passive noise cancellation but also refining the bass in your music. You can listen to your music the way you want to hear it and the companion Jabra Sound+ app allows you to personalise your music to the sound that suits you.

Key features of the Elite 65e:

  • The best voice experience: Enjoy incredible conversation quality with 3-microphone technology
  • Professional-grade ANC: Cancel out background sound with professional-grade Active Noise Cancellation that uses 2 microphones in each earbud to deliver noise cancelling that meets business standards

The second level is the more known technology of Active Noise Cancellation that digitally removes additional noise levels. Having included ANC in professional headsets for years, Jabra now brings leading business grade ANC to consumers – providing superior total noise cancellation to the wider audience.

Best-in-class voice experience

Drawing on the GN Group’s long-standing audio, headset and hearing aid expertise, the Elite franchise is engineered to meet the needs of those users looking not only for outstanding music quality and voice capabilities, but also for consumers who are using voice assistants. Voice is increasingly becoming the tool of choice in the way we communicate with technology. With the Elite 65e you can instantly connect to Alexa, Siri® or Google Assistant™**, allowing you to quickly get the information you need – whether that be setting appointments, finding nearby events, or having your messages read back to you. Bluetooth 5.0 allows you to seamlessly connect the earbuds to a smartphone. The Jabra Elite 65e can be used all day, wherever you go, as it has a battery that lasts up to 8 hours when using ANC, and an incredible 13 hours with ANC tuned off.
