@here has been updated and renamed to HERE Wego. #HERE #Apps #Android #iOS

HERE is one of those names that you immediately recognize unless you’ve been living under a rock. Formerly part of Nokia on the early days of Symbian, then with Microsoft and Nokia for the Lumia line. Here Maps is one of the best (if not the best) navigation app available Techbuzzireland chief editor has been a long standing supporter, user and fan of HERE.
Here did officially  launch on Android and iOS a couple of years back, but first made its appearance on Window’s Phone and the Web,HERE now  own a Car manufacturer alliance, Here sees its first revamp as now has changed  the name to:

Why?

“…very few regular users open our app to look at a map – they want to get somewhere and find the fastest way to do that.”

But the changes go deeper than just the name, with a lot of improvement under the hood and more options the new update makes what was great even better.

The first thing you notice just by opening the app, is a new direction system:

“Where to?”

Is what you’ll see at first glance, there you type your destination, choose between different modes of transport and immediate after you have your route ready.

There’s a new Route Comparison screen where you’ll see the time difference between them, also the welcome improvements.

Alongside the well known options from now on you have the car-sharing firm Car2Go data (where it operates) with calculation for GAS, fare, distance and time from the different car located near by.

Apart from this in some cities you will get Taxi information, with some of the details above mentioned and a call button.

Another improvement over previous version comes from the Bicycle routes, where now you “Elevation Profiles” the will tell you the effort required by each route.

As you can see from the image, the colour pallet is also changed, with lighter colours to help readability and also let the new icons “shine”.

But take a look yourself

The new update is already available on Android, and on iOS
