WhatsApp is one of the biggest messaging  apps out there alongside  Telegram Messenger  Viber WhatsApp which has recently went free although most probably never paid for it. Today they have made an announcement though that will not wash well with many and not only that its got a tone to it similar to what happened with Microsoft and how it shafted Nokia over along with its staff..

BlackBerry users on BB10 which is a three yr old OS is a little odd in comparison to whats behind it but you can install APKs on BB10 and of course PRIV owners do not need to worry being Android..This app would be huge in merging markets and its these people that will be hurt ,given Symbian, S40  and Windows Phone 7.1 are significantly older than BB10  you can relate to some extent but was there a need right now,BlackBerry Passport users that use the app maybe a little pissed. Will this make users change their phone?? Maybe for some but for others there is alternatives such as telegram messenger.

Support will cease for the following but the apps will still work for now

  • BlackBerry, including BlackBerry 10
  • Nokia S40
  • Nokia Symbian S60
  • Android 2.1 and Android 2.2
  • Windows Phone 7.1

They go on to say…

While these mobile devices have been an important part of our story, they don’t offer the kind of capabilities we need to expand our app’s features in the future.

This was a tough decision for us to make, but the right one in order to give people better ways to keep in touch with friends, family, and loved ones using WhatsApp. If you use one of these affected mobile devices, we recommend upgrading to a newer Android, iPhone, or Windows Phone before the end of 2016 to continue using WhatsApp.

How nice of you to suggest this… We made great ground from the above but now kindly get lost…
