Back in March Sony announced the Xperia J1 (almost like a re-edition of the original Z1 Compact) just for Japan, but this week they also announced that they’re teaming up with game publisher Konami to bring an special edition of this model as homage to Hideo Kojima’s upcoming Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.
The device itself is practically what you can name “a great mid-range phone”
Check out the Internals:
A 4.3″ inch 720p display
A quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor clocked at 2.2GHz
16GB of internal storage (microSD card available)
A 20.7MP rear camera and a 2.2MP Front camera
And a 2,300mAh Battery
All of that on top of Android 4.4 (Upgradable when available)
Two original soundtracks from “The Phantom Pain”.
A custom ringtone.
A custom rear cover which features the “Outer Heaven” logo.
A 1,000 yen ($8) voucher to purchase game-related comics, novels and concept art.
And a Preloaded Wallpaper to match the theme.
The phone is priced at 59,800 yen (more or less $480). But the sad part of this story is the fact that the phone has been announced just for Japan at the moment.
But chances are good that the phone will be available in other territories, mostly because of hardcore gamers that might want this collectors item with them.
There’s also another important thing to add Sony Japan is also planning to unveil a Xperia Z4 tablet, Xperia Z3 Tablet compact, NW-ZX2 and NW-A16 Walkman players as “MGS: Phantom Pain” Editions
