Three and 02 are merging, the deal is done and things are already changing,i have even seen some shops beginning their outfitting so it won’t be long before we eventually see the 02 brand phased out.

At times like this it sparks strong discussion on forums and local boards alike, the discussion mainly consists of who is the best who provides the best and at times the reverse, who is worse.Another quite popular discussion is the famous “get out of contract clause” below is the most popular regulation thrown at the providers.

Under Regulation 17 of the European Communities (electronic communications networks and services)(Universal Service and Users’ rights) Regulations 2003 an operator shall, not less than one month prior to the date of implementation of any proposed modification, notify its subscribers to that service of the proposed modification in the conditions of the contract for that service, and their right to withdraw without penalty from such contract if they do not accept the modification.

From time to time there is price changes, this is when we usually see if people can escape the current contract they are on for whatever reason, contracts are now 18 – 24 months or there is of course alternatives such as 30 day rolling contracts and pay as you go,change of terms typically would not really affect anyone on pre-pay anyhow.

Currently over on boards.ie there is already a big discussion on the very topic check it out here .

So what does this change mean for current customers on both networks,by looking at the FAQs on the Three website it pretty much looks like customers will benefit more and they have outline what is happening so for now there will be no option to exit your current contract so it seems..

For those currently on the Three Network ..

02 Customers can also note the following.

I have an O2 Money account, what happens to it?

As an O2 Money customer, there’s no change to your account, to your card or how you use it.

Can I still get Priority Tickets?

As an O2 customer, if you are registered for Priority Tickets, you’ll still receive notifications and be able to get Presale Tickets for 3Arena.

So really its a carbon copy of rules for those on both networks apart from those moving from O2 so to speak, they will be the beneficiary here .
