This deal has been in talks for some time now and finally its over,Three is given the ok to buyout 02 Ireland.

Also this means there is another deal in tow to have UPC having its mobile network.

Three’s market share will be now 37pc and bring subscriber numbers to over 2m active users.

Three will be offering improved terms to Meteor on network-sharing, which will speed up Meteor’s 4G roll out.

Three, which is owned by Hutchison Whampoa, is now expected to push ahead with a separate deal with UPC that will see the cable broadband operator launch a new mobile service on 3’s network. It will also be required to dedicate 30pc of the merged company’s network capacity to the new operators.

This will be interesting now for customers to see what they can offer as a whole, three does not offer a great range of handsets which mainly are dominated by Samsung and leans towards the apple iPhone, hopefully prices will be competitive and a bigger variety of handsets become available. Currently three has started to sell Nokia Lumia handsets which they ignored for some time.

Three have said this on their website!
